Motorsport Off Topic Thread

Wow. Okay, I wasn't expecting that after KMag's recent comments but I think he's a good choice for the team. It's going to be difficult for him to get up to speed for the first race though.

Yeah I never expected to see him back in F1 at all, makes sense for Haas I suppose though to get a known quantity back in who know's the team, etc.

Mazepin Jnr's comments afterwards were blindly missing the point. It makes more sense now, they truly were in bed with Putin. I don't believe any billionaire businessman in Russia can get to that level without being in bed with Putin. His initial comments showed as much, seems he really doesn't see the writing on the wall either with this comment;

He added: "Formula 1 is not a closed chapter for me. I will be ready to race in case there is an opportunity to return. I wish all the best to the drivers who will replace me. They have nothing to do with the existing situation."
Mate, your career is over. Russia is over, it's a pariah on the world stage until Putin goes. Get your head out of the sand

RIP Vic Elford, or Quick Vic.

One of the greatest all rounder of the sport passed away today, having lived through the most dangerous era of motorsport. Managed to see him race towards the end of his career, would over to have seen him on the late 60's and early 70's in sports cars, CanAm in particular.

Anyone interested in taking over creating the F1 threads from me?

I would be terrible at creating them myself and I will miss them in 2022.
I find your opening post information very helpful and I usually read it before the race.

Thanks for all your efforts over the years, much appreciated.

Seems like Mercedes will need to build a longer car soon so Hamilton's name can fit on it

Good Lord he’s a ****. Why not do this years ago if it bothers him so much. It reeks of his PR team. They’ll need a bigger car just to fit his ego at this rate.

That...seems like a strong reaction to a very '*shrug*' story. You okay there RAVE?

You can give yourself middle name if you really want one. You don't need 7 F1 Drivers titles to be able to do it, about £40 usually does it.

Only if you're a mug. It doesn't cost a penny to change your name, the websites and companies that charge people to do it are laughing all the way to the bank.

Where did I mention third parties? I was thinking of the court costs for it to be enrolled...

So Vegas finally announced for next year. Saturday night race, so Sunday am for us.
I guess it’s better than chasing the oil money (let’s hope we don’t go to Saudi again) but I can’t get excited by that. It just seems touristy, I’d rather see some proper circuits rather than go-kart tracks.

Oh Saturday night. That's an odd one.

Hopefully it's not like those Awful US street races of the past and is designed with the current cars in mind.

So that is CoA, Miami, and Vegas. Lewis is going to love that as he can spend more time in the States.
