I don’t think anyone ever doubted that Bottas is a good team player and all around nice bloke.

He just wasn’t fast enough and couldn’t hide it as he had the second best car on the grid.
 
Helmut confirmed to Sky Germany that Dani Ric will be the Red Bull reserve driver next year. Don't think they've put out an official announcement yet.
 
It’s a good way to undermine your own principles, I suppose.

He left RB because he thought the team was toxic and entirely focussed around Max… so he can hardly go back expecting it to be different after the recent events where they’ve publicly buried Perez.

Unless of course he fancies having a carrot dangled in front of him for the next few years?

Deep down I think he know's he's done as a possible "top" / WC contender, might as well take whatever pay check he can for a few years.

Most drivers will never win a WDC. Few enough win races. You don't have to be champion to have a worthwhile career above just cashing a pay cheque.
 
I half expected him to go back to RB, he kinda hinted at the possibility few weeks back. He likes doing crazy stuff and RB are known for doing fun PR videos so I'm sure he'll get few opportunities to do random things with older F1 cars he wouldn't otherwise get to do. He'll probably spent few months next year driving an F1 car around US to increase RBR fan base there.

Where has he said he left RedBull because they were "toxic" i.e harmful or poisonous? Sounds like that is what you have assumed.

Well known that he didn’t enjoy the atmosphere in the team. You ignored my second point about him leaving because the team was being built around Max, which is the bigger factor.
 
After today's snoozefest maybe check out the season finale for the V8 Supercars at a proper track - Adelaide! 1st - 4th December. Only downside is it's on at silly o'clock in the morning :cry:
