I think he's definitely one of the current top tier drivers in F1/recent times. HOWEVER.. (Before i get attacked... :O ) As has been show with the Mclaren he needs a car that suits his style to be at his very quickest. He doesn't appear to be one of those top tier drivers that can adjust his style to suit the car's characteristics and still be quick.

This is a decent explanation of what seems to be going on with Danny R.

Yeah Liam Lawson is going to be Red Bull's "official" reserve next season, however I read that he won't be around for up to 11 of the races due to clashes with the Super Formula calendar (which he is expected to take part in).
So its likely Ricciardo would be on hand for those ones

Official reserve status doesn't seem to mean much anyway when it comes to who actually gets put in a seat. My guess is that if there's a choice then it'll depend on how RB's season is looking: if they think they can spare the points they'll see how Lawson fares, if they are in a close fight they'll put Daniel in.

Interesting plan to add wheel arches to F1 for wet conditions:

Not sure that's the best approach, but anything that works to get back to racing in the wet is a good thing in my eyes. I imagine that it'll be a nightmare for the aerodynamicists.

Lot more noise about Binotto due to hand in his resignation soon. Shame as he has provided a marked uplift in Ferrari performance, but they don't look any closer to winning a championship with the level of consistency through the season.

It’s a tricky one, on the one hand given the number of TL’s that have failed it makes you wonder if it’s something else like the culture in the team or failing to hire the right people. But all that starts and stops with the TL.

Ferrari have a decent car this year but strategy has been terrible. Hopefully a new TL can sort it out and Ferrari can challenge Red Bull next year.

Has he provided a marked uplift in Ferrari performance? I'd say no really. We can't be sure how things have worked out, but I doubt the designers making a good job of the new regulations has much to do with him. Other things around the team have been a shambles, with strategy which as always been a bit of an issue, getting worse.

Ferrari’s had a decent car this year, capable of taking the fight to the Red Bulls on numerous occasion. Their strategy calls have been sketchy on a regular basis and that’s something that must rest with the Team Principal.
