Interesting news on the Merc Crypto Sponsor FTX today.

I saw a post a month or so ago which showed how poor all of the F1 Crypto sponsors were doing this year - all of them would have lost an investor significant money this year. Looks like it's catchup now - be interesting to see if other teams using Crypto sponsors are impacted.
e.g. McLaren recently announced OKX, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges as the primary team sponsor !

Mercedes suspends FTX sponsor deal; removes logos from F1 cars

Yeah Rich Energy about sums up F1 teams due diligence on sponsorship loot!

You'd think some bloke turning up with money for a brand that no one had ever heard of selling a product no one had ever seen on sale might have set some alarm bells off but clearly not.

I'm sad about it myself. I don't think Mick really deserves to be out, and I think Nico spent plenty long enough being ordinary in F1. He doesn't need another crack at it.
I'd forgotten Mick hadn't signed up anywhere else for next season, as much as it would be great for Hulk to be back, it shouldn't be at the expense of the new generation of decent drivers.

Looks like Mick will end up as the 3rd driver at a decent team next season (depending on Ricciardo) so perhaps not the worst move, reports at the weekend that he's on Merc's list to replace De Vries (behind Ricciardo) and Alpine are very keen on him being their 3rd driver too.

I reckon he might learn more in a year at Mercedes or Alpine than in the toxic atmosphere of Haas anyway.

Must be decent odds on him being in an Audi owned Sauber in 2024 anyway

Haas seem to have swung too far away from their 2 complete rookies nightmare in 2021. Magnussen has done more than enough to keep his seat, but I just don't understand the logic of bringing the Hulk back. I guess he was a known, safe, quantity who wasn't asking for a huge amount of money.

I'd class him in the same boat as Italian Jesus (Giovanazzi). Steady but prone to dropping the odd clanger.

Definitely not worth dropping Mick over though :(

In agreement with others that while I have no problem with Hulk getting a seat in F1 it shouldn't be at the expense of a younger driver with potential.

Hulks made a whole career of tootling round in the midfield/lower midfield what's another year racing for a pure lower midfield team gonna gain anyone apart from a wage?
