IOM TT this week, just watched a documentary on Ian Hutchinson, the racing Gods have been brutal to Hutchy who'll not be deterred.

Road riders are the bravest of the brave. Time to watch the brilliant film 'Road' again.

Really felt for Nolan Siegel in the Indy NXT race earlier today. Pulled off a great overtake, was five seconds ahead and then had a driveshaft failure two corners from the end and drifted home in eight place. Those cars sound like angry buzzing hornets, it was an enjoyable race to watch.

Almost caught this by accident but will be following NXT when I can, some enjoyable viewing.

BTCC at Thruxton this weekend was a bit meh. Sutton dominating again, but clearly not just a case of the best car - it's a decent car with one of the best drivers.

Mini Se7ens and Mini Miglias were far more entertaining though - highly recommend watching them on a catchup if you want to see some genuinely entertaining racing

Minis were awesome watching, really enjoy some of the historics stuff. Was laughable how small the minis looked on the circuit, and 4 abreast into some of corners made things "interesting". But, overall, clean racing.

BTCC, Sutton with that Focus just seems to be in complete synergy, considering you have at least one other top drivers i.e Cammish in the Napa Ford and he can't seem to quite get the same out of it as Sutton can. Reminds me of Vettel back in the day in F1 where he could just break clear in the first couple of laps by some margain and then just owned the race from there.

Goes without saying, with the right car and once out front, the race can be controlled. Max, Schumacher, Lewis, Button and many others have employed the same technique because they can, in the right car, lift their performance to a new level. Not everyone can do this so Sutton is probably one of the few.

Haven't watched much BTCC in the last few years - has the addition of hybrid power units and extra weight from the batteries had a negative effect on the racing?

Yes but no.

By not having success ballast, then in theory it means that the cars setup is easier/more consistent over the weekend.

The weight of the hybrid unit hasn't made much difference, but equally the effect of boost is quite track dependant (with thruxton, a high speed track, it making almost no difference)

The strict enforcement of driving standards over the last couple of years (Less rubbing is racing) and particularly this year with stricter enforcement of track limits has hurt the "entertainment" side of the racing

They do it for relatively peanuts as well. I’ve always been fascinated by the TT and ive watched more on board footage of that than any other racing format.
