Motorway cops - cops out of order?

because it's illegal, he might have 14 days. but that does not mean he can drive on the road. I expect that's how it works anyway.

It must have a clause to say you can drive it home. Or they would have towed it.

If you were to pull him for the 1st time and fine him and say 14 days, but don't drive it and let him drive away. He could get pulled a 2nd time on the way home (if unlucky) and then fined again for it, despite driving it home/to garage.

So I believe there must be a clause to allow you to drive in those 14days, but again has a ASAP attached to it. (for instance a garage informed or it booked in)

What happened with the failing to pay at the petrol station, was it some big mess up? And yes he deserved his fine, silly boy.

His card didn't go through or something, so he gave his details to the station and they let him go.

Did anyone else feel that the cop was backed into a corner with the mistake of pulling him over and then being caught out by the young lad that he reacted with the fine as a result? like he started to talk to the young lad a bit unfair even though he was lippy? age discrimination?

But he wasn't on his way home, it was 7 days later and he was knowingly driving on false plates, which is against the law. The 14 day thing isn't "You can drive for 14 days before getting this sorted" it's "You have 14 days to sort it and send us this before we charge you". It's still illegal to drive with false plates.

No. I feel he was about to use his discretion and send him on his way when the cocky runt swore and gave him attitude, so he used his discretion and gave him the ticket instead. If he was 53 and spoke to the police officer like that he'd be asking for a ticket.

Rubbish, that lad was a lippy, jumped up little oik, and needed a good talking to. I would have gone a lot further than that cop, and given him a right telling off for being an idiot. Isn't that what cops are supposed to do?

I meant hypothetically in a cetain situation.

In this situation however, I totally agree. I am 19 and would never speak to anyone like that in the given situation :) He got the fine for the way he acted to the officer.

Had to laugh at that guy going the wrong way down the closed motorway, basically saying I'm incapable of turning around, arrest me :D

He was a ****. End of. He didn't care whatsoever and was obviously a spoilt brat driving such a car at 18.

They were being very harsh on him. He was given 14 days to change the plates and was allowed to drive the car away that day - surely this means he can drive the car for the next 14 days?

Or, heaven forbid, he could have a job and have worked to get his car on finance.

On incorrect numberplates? Of course it doesn't. It would make him immune to prosecution from speeding, theft, etc etc...

I drove down that motorway on Saturday, I thought I was gonna be on telly when they said Silver Civic Type-R lol.

As much as I disapprove of such behaviour, since when has it been illegal to be rude?

I didn't watch the show, but from the description it sounds like he was fined for having dodgy plates while still being within his 14 day limit to change them. Therefore, surely he was still within the limit of the law?

Im not defending his actions, if you speak to people like that you should expect a clip round the ear. I'm just playing devils advocate.

Edit: Perhaps I've misunderstood. I guess the original 14 day warning does not exlcude him from being pulled a second time by a different officer?

Well he says he wasn't told that he couldn't? I only stopped watching as he got into the car. What was wrong with the plates?

It's pretty obvious that if you get pulled for illegal plates that, it's illegal to use them on the road. If he was on his way home, fine. But he obviously wasn't - he clearly knew full well he wasn't supposed to be using them - but he thought it wouldn't matter if the GATSO got him.

The officer did threaten to arrest him.

The lad said "for what?"

Officer basically for saying swear words.

The lad said "that's how I talk, what of it"

Can you be arrested for swearing in a sentence? At the end of the day its down to how you use the swearword and if the person is offended by it. I don;t care if people swear at me as it's only an arrangement of letters! But if they used my mother in the remark, I would probably kick off!

Public disorder, they do it all the time when people are acting like him (as in, they can't nab him for what he is doing, but him using those offensive words in manner towards other or police, its pretty stupid).

I think that is the point , he has 14 to prove he has changed the plates, not to drive around on them , every time he drives his car he is open to being pulled over and fined , but his attitude was more get out my face, shame.

Ahh, I see, fair enough then.
