Mountain Biking

Hi L_mo
That's the ones I was looking at if I go with DP Pikes.
A set of DP's plus tokens should come in around £410 (2015 Pikes) versus a set of Solo Airs at £515 (2016 Pikes).

I fail to see how a set of Solo Air's are worth £100 more?

I just don't know what to do :(

I guess the solos are in higher demand and are the more sort after fork. I love my dp pikes, especially now with tokens fitted. Being able to lower them does come in very handy for steep, techy climbs!

On the subject of pikes, I've had a bit of an incident and put a fairly deep scratch into the stanchion, I've tryed to ghetto repair to keep me running for now but I'd be keen to replace the stanchions for the long term, when it comes to service time. anyone know if it's possible to buy a new set? If so what sort of price?

Nice, they must be very new as there was no tokens at all for the DP up to very recently.

Think I got them March/ April time this year, just stumbled on them through the mtbr forums. Picture here of them next to the solo tokens, all they've done is drill the hole out a little, stick a seal in it then charge 39 dollars...easy!

Anyway seeing as the is the big bike thread, here's mine with just fitted m8000 groupset. Feels awesome up and down the drive, looking forward to testing properly at Coed y this Sunday!

Mate of mine did exactly the thing with his pikes and has patched them up with nail varnish, and does't look too bad either! I think (don't quote me) new stanchions can be £300!

HOW MUCH?!
I'd be as well getting a new fork! Think I'll keep an eye on pinkbike for a set of stanchions, there's a set of 29" ones on there for £170 at the moment but from the looks of it the product code is different between the 29" and the 27.5", so I'd imagine there would be dimension differences?

I know! I don't know for sure, just "what I heard "

£470 on CRC. Or pick up a 2nd hand set on pinkbike?

FAST suspension is the way to go!

Edit: sorry, got the Boxxer Stanchions upgrade confused with Pike. Left the link above post edit, in case anyone here wants to pimp their Pike.

Hypothetical question as I don't have funds available yet. If I had £800-£1000 to spend on a hardtail, that is a good all rounder, what would any of you guy's recommend? I am a novice at best, but would like to spend some time on some trails, and work my way up to some more technical stuff. I don't want a full suspension, as my budget would not allow anything decent. I would also like to buy new, as I feel I am not experienced enough to not choose a secondhand Lemon. I keep looking at this https://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/CBOO45650X5/on-one-45650b-sram-x5-mountain-bike as I hear lot's of good things about their hardtails. Your thoughts are appreciated :)

New bike has a saddle carved from pure granite :(

Highly irritating as my old bike has a lovely saddle on it that I could just have swapped over but it is totally the wrong colour.

I need a yellow saddle - or yellow and black.

Charge Spoon in Lime (which despite the name is yellow not green) is completely out of stock everywhere.

Yellow and black Nukeproof - £38 but no idea if it's soft or hard or worth the money.

May have to just lump for a plain black Charge Spoon, or just buy some padded shorts instead.

I got a nukeproof seat and it is without a doubt one of the comfiest seats i've had. Was a little sceptical when i first saw it, it looked small with no padding compared to my trust sdg bel air but its better than the sdg.
