Mountain Biking

Awesome - will have to say hi Jono! Didn't think I'd have the legs for practice on the Saturday and then the full course on Sunday... in hindsight though...

Edit: Edit, ignore me.. Race Saturday, but still timed on Sunday. Damn, didn't read it correctly at 630am..

Which dates did you go for? I'm 5-6 aug, which looks like the day before you... I don't think I'm allowed to do it on Sunday.

Interesting.

Did a BPW uplift last Sunday and my hands and lower arms were crippled for days. Returning to normality now.

I do sometime feel like im gripping too tight and i had a play moving my break leavers and posture so i did not feel like i was supporting my heft on the bars but it was really painful.

Any tips as i guess this is a technique/skill thing that you guys think might help?

I don't get this normally just when i do downhill stuff only like BPW.

i have exactly the same problem - I only notice it at BPW though
tried moving brakes etc but its just what happens when you deathgrip all day!

I never used to get this tho.

Maybe its because im fatter. I feel like i need to grip harder and have less control of the back end.

An uplift day at BPW destroyed me too. I put it down to the uplift allowing you to do far more hard riding than normally you would do in a day if you had to actually ride up the hill :p
I can remember on the last run I ended up having a really stupid off where I just lost all grip on the bars and fell into a bush in what felt like slow motion. lol

First time i hit bike park wales my forearms died too from mega arm pump. I bought fatter softer grips and it helped a little but the biggest improvement was lossening the death grip! Gripping the bar too tight was my problem, as soon as i loosened up it was heaven, no more pump.

Ah yes, "just one more run" accident. All of my best scars are from those :D

Yep! Was hard to duck out of those with a big group of us. With the other guy I ride with we always agree that if either of us say "one more" we'll call it a day before doing it :p

ok ive ordered some - ill try it out!

I ordered some more also, and it came today. These ones are a bit narrow unfortunately :(

Will stick em on tomorrow and see how they work out.

Yeap.

I'm not one who believes in luck / Karma/ superstition or any such nonsense... But the "one more" curse struck too many times :(

First ever time it did for me, a shark circled a friend and myself, just after I said "one more wave "!

Honestly, lbs want £20 to press in headset cups. Its like 5 mins with a parktool. That's like a £240/hour rate.

My local wanted £15 if forks were out the way to remove and press or £25 if bike was built. Honestly unless you own a van how awkward it would be to get your bike in the car with no forks! In the end i bought a cheap press (£10 fleabay) and a cheap remover (x tools, £10 i think) and done myself.

I did a seal service to my monarch plus rc3 earlier, took about 30 mins including fitting n removing off bike. The can was so stiff to remove off the shock, i needed a filter wrench/strap ideally but bodged with an innertube and biceps of Thor. The seals were absolutly spanked, quite abit of chunder bob was in past the wiper seal but the second seal stopped any big bits. Not suprised with 2 years of uplifts and uk weather.
