Mountain Biking

I didnt buy a full bike just frame only. I already had a set of new fox 36's. I went there yesterday and tried sizings too see what size i liked. chatted about my riding style and what type of tracks I like to ride. Decided on the X2 shock which they custom valve. I took my forks along which they stripped, serviced and custom tuned for the frame, which they done for free. Once I built it up I get to take it back and they will set it up for me! Also I get a free frame check over, bearing replacement and shock service within the first 2 years. not bad service if I say so myself

Still see a lack of photos though  :D

It's a sexy looking thing in the flesh (the frame! Knifey is alright i suppose, not my type) .. lovely matt colour black. seems awfuly long.. will look nice with the 36's and fox shock)

They roll a damn site faster than my nobby nic/fat alberto combo. Also a friend went from hans dampf to lollers and prefers the lollers for rolling. Dunno if its placebo or what ever but the lollers roll.

All say there fast rolling tyres. You been riding em with no air in cow?

"I thought there must be a catch somewhere, but they just gripped and gripped some more. "

Quoted one, but all say the same...did you skip over hose bits :D ?

A tyre can only grip / roll so much. Grip and rolling resistance will always be a tradeoff against one another.

The reason I feel that it doesn't roll particularly well, is because a set of HR2s were on one Shan demo bike we had, and a set of Hans Dampf / Nobby nic combo on the other bike. It was comedy to see how much one bike had to pedal over another during a loop at crappy old Swinley. When freeing, the HR2 came to a a halt ages before the other. Don't get my wrong, they didn't excessively drag or feel laborious to pedal, but in a head to head comparison the difference was clear.

Knifey: That's a great service... wonder what they do to the X2... given that all the adjustment range you could want is external. Did they re shim the main compression stack for your weight? Like the others said... PICs! (if you have A WIDE ENOUGH LENS THAT IS)

pps: Someone in this thread recently bought that new Whyte AM bike (can;t recall who) - saw that in tyhe flesh over the weekend... what a lovely looking bike that is, and oh so generous in its proportions!

You said they didnt roll  >..>

To be fair its just because I rode my friends bike with a minion up front and it was like it were glued to the same track my lollers were drifting all over.

It's only an uplift tyre so drag doesnt concern me, I think I'll go for either a 2.5 minion or a 2.4 super tacky loller. Probably the loller as I'm not sure a 2.5 minion will be too comfy in a pike whem my 2.3 hr2 is millimeters away at the moment.

They took my weight so they must have done something, to be honest I was so tired I just forgot to ask really. Ill upload some pics when I have finished bolting bits onto it! :D Looks massive already

26"?

My 2.3 HR2 has miles of clearance with pikes...

I've roughly built it, needs a chain and gear cable, plus I got different bars and stem coming. She's a heavy build at as it stands is coming in at 32.6lbs. I can get this down to 30 pretty easy I reckon. Not the best photo but ill get some more tomorrow

It is also MASSIVE compared to my trek. Thats the best place I could take a picture of it at the moment and I was struggling to fit! Feels nice to sit and stand up on. Cant wait to get it finished and first ride out on it!

Wheres gwin going though! This is going to be the tight season for the top. Minaar found form again, bruni consistant, brosnan a clipped in sam hill, bryceland properly recovered, gee on a new team, mcdonald getting more consistant and then theres gwin.

Still no news on Gwin!

Peatys last season too, this season should be eventful. Sadly I can't see Peaty doing well, coming from a whole season off and in wind down mode.

It's only the Lapierre part of the gravity team that's being dropped. Bruni and Co are not replacing Gwin, as they're staying on the same team...and not on the Specialized factory team with Brosnan

Car park test of the Geoweightsaboutaton is good. Feels long and slack but picks up speed easy enough.. Hoping to try it out on the trails tomorrow!
