Mountain Biking

Weakness + cramp sounds more like nutrition problems than bike setup (but could be anything really). A lot of people get cramp when they start to become dehydrated.

How much did you eat and drink during your ride?
I'd guess 35 miles would be over 3 hours? For that sort of time in the saddle, I would probably eat at least 3-4 cereal bars and drink 750+ml water.

I did wonder this.

I probably drank 2l+ out of my camelbak, plus more at the feed stations. It was water with those High5 tablet things in. Plus things like flapjack, peanuts etc and a couple of energy gels along the way.

It was really good to meet you guys this weekend, and a shame we couldn't catch more uplifts together.

I also stripped down the whole bike yesterday and she's looking healthy again. Relegated that blinking tyre to the bin, stupid Hans Dampf side knobs were just in an absolute state.

Yeah, should've thought it out in advance rather than the singles. Though it seems we got lucky.

My plan for tomorrow, though to box it up and send the shock away :/ Just didn't quite feel confident on it all weekend.

Went to llandegla today, 2 minutes in to the ride my free hub decides to go :( couldnt pedal. Put some hot water on it which worked for 30 mins but ended up pushing most of the trail! gutted! had no tools in car. Turns out the bearings and everything are screwed though. Llandegla not to far from me (45 mins) but still well annoyed! Was my first time there aswell :( Really enjoyed what i could have the flowy jumpy tracks though!

Bikes been in my garage going through some changes -

Changed from 2x10 to 1x10 with a new superstar chain ring. Put the cranks back on and was about 1 cm from fully tightening the bolt up before I noticed the pedals were both in the down position..... lol

Changed the rear mech again to the one I bought a while ago as it will now fit the 1x10 setup and just before I put the chain back on I noticed the rear brake was scratching, which I put down to there being some grit/dirt in there. Upon further inspection the break pad spring had caught somehow and was being grinded away.

So some new pads are on there way to go with the new full face/goggles.

Going to book a day at Aston in the next couple of weeks so if anyone fancies a trip, come join.

Let me know when you're up there nick5466, I might join, depending on day / weather :)

Another random one from me, but I've been playing with my Bontrager Flash charger pump. The thing rocks!

Apart from its amazing ability to scare the living crap out of my dog, it really does exactly what it says on the tin. I consider myself as the "tubeless whisperer"... and have never met a combo, or bad enough warped sidewall to get the better of me. Even though it's a skill to be proud of, I realised that life is too short to nearly pass out trying to pump up a stubborn tubeless combo.

Been trying it on all sorts and it's yet to fail me, well worth the money.

Well new brake pads are on, one of the rear ones was down to the metal, opps. Put the put the chain on and can only use the smallest 5 gears on the cassette. Think I'm just going to take the 'kin thing to the LBS and get it serviced and let them sort the last little bit out.

Just found this thread... I'l post some pics up later.

I'm so lucky a friend of mine has been doing MTB for a while and rang me and asked if he could stay. Turns out i live in a prime location for it!

So naturally went out and spend £1300 on an entry full susp Giant Trance 4! All to use at:

Afan and Bike Park Wales.... love Wales :D

Can anyone recommend some pads for my Oro (Formula) brake please? I've been using Uber Bike pads for the last while and theyre superb. But not they're not stocking anymore. Everything else I've tried is rubbish :-(

Goon: welcome. Me and a few of the lads were at BPW on Saturday. It's brilliant! Afan is also special. Cwmcarn isn't that much further either!

Off to BPW with workmates next month. Can't wait, will be the first time I've done it with uplift and the first time on a full suss bike. Should be awesome :D

Seeing these bpw comments makes me miserable :(

Bike is now boxed and going on a boat next week. At least 5 weeks before I'm riding again :(
