Mountain Biking

Got my Dropper delivered today. Fitted to the bike and there is some slight lateral play in it (ie a twist) - it's only slight and not noticeable when riding. But can feel/hear it when moving the bike around.
Google seems to suggest that this is quite common, however I'm not sure I should really be happy with this? Anyone else had the same thing on a Rockshox Reverb?

Play aside, it works great, even if cable routing is a pain in the rear! :p

That does look good!

Also Jono, where is your Bird?

I don't know. They haven't replied to my whinings today, which means they're busy building it, or have taken my money and eloped to France.

It's still in bits, in Eversley, probably. :( :( :( :( :(

Ben did say that he was hoping to post it tomorrow, but then I wanted to get it invisiframed.

Eloped to France, your never going to see that. :/

Add Specialized Ambush to that list too, tried one this weekend for size, excellent lid. Giant's new AM lid also looks the business.

The specialized is very nice actually.

Also I can now see a mountain from my bedroom window, sadly still another 3-4 weeks waiting on my bike turning up :(

My reverbs the same. Side to side and up movement when you grab it but not noticeable on ride.

Looks like my pikes might have to go back through warranty. Theres an annoying click when you push down on front end or hold brake n move front and back. Though not detrimental to strength of fork, very annoying. I've changed handle bar stem combo, removed and reseated headset twice, new headset crown, and even wheel bearings are new.

They were only serviced by tftuned 4 rides ago so theres £130 wasted!

Apparantley you have to go through the retailer where you got them so i've emailed ubyk and will wait to see whats next.

Ok new bike time, week away riding in the highlands pretty much killed my trail bike.
looking for Min 160mm, reasonably aggressive geo, dropper, carbon preferrably but not necessary, 3k max, no direct from manufacturers, would like to be able to go into a shop test and if happy pick it up Fri/Sat next week, so will have to be in stock.

Lots of options out there, but i've found myself very very attracted to the Norco Range 7.3.
not played with one yet but plan on ringing tuesday to get a look at and a play on one, i have tryed the smaller sibling the Sight both alu and carbon models and was very impressed with how both rode, the range is just the big brother so i expect the same ride characteristics.

played on an Spesh enduro evo, initially i was interested in the enduro evo, loved the looks and it felt so capable and confidence inspiring, i felt right at home on it, but the lower priced model i played with was a little down on the component spec and X-fusion forks were topping out horribly(bike was a rental), and was a tad on the heavy side, it felt a little too lardy for longer rides though, and my current budget wont stretch to the evo expert.
so i think i've ruled that one out, but will still see if i can get a play on a enduro comp, but again the spec is a little poor and lacks dropper.

anyone got any other suggestions to demo or any input on the Range 7.3?

I have just bought an e29 comp 2014. The 2015 is broadly the same except for some useful upgrades (wider rims, comes in 1*10, better brakes).

It is my first new bike in 15 years but I love it. Unbelievably good; even climbing is easier because of the 29 wheels and sensible seat angle.

Things I don't like are little details like poor cable routing which has meant I got a lot of cable rub on the first rides. The rear shock is miles off the pikes but, as whole, the bike is miles ahead of my skill level despite this.

I am going to add a dropper soon and abuse the crap out of it for a few years.

Ahah! Im stuck going there with work so want something to do in the evenings other than be bored in the hotel

Welcome to the flat side of the country! When are you coming over? I'll make the trip from Peterborough to Woburn or Chicksands if you go down.

You going home at the weekend as Aston isn't too much further but not sure you could do it in the evenings.

Supercow: Hows the weather been this week down at Aston?
