Mountain Biking

Trust me, if it's not an Evoc bag, or an Evoc copy, you're better off with a box.
Those older CRC / Dakine / wtfever ones are horrible to transport.

The bike's not "kept together" like the Evocs, meaning the bike in the bag contorts, and you have no grip on the blinking thing. I did that once (borrowed one) and nearly threw it away in Morzine.

I'm kinda thinking its a good one, he is in a senior position and he likes to spend money on his bikes. He currently has a cruz of some sorts and has just had a custom built frame and is putting xx1 / hope stuff on it so I hope he hasn't skimped on the bag. Ill just ask what it is to make sure my bike fits.

They don't strap the box to the roof of the plane :D
On transfer it also gets put inside the combi.

If it does become a mess, get another one from a bikeshop in Morzine.

I stand corrected  :D

No I mean some of the baggage trolleys out on the tarmac are pretty open to the elements. Nobody wants a soggy box ( :D ) especially if its going to spit your ride out when lifted.

That confused me too. Is he, isn't he?

How did you get to Morzine? I was going to drive but that's 2 days wasted, so now looking at flying and sticking the bike in a box.

I've driven twice and flown twice. Since driving I don't intend on flying ever again. No weight limits to worry about, no worries of broken parts and works out cheaper for me. Plus...road trip :p

Just a bit of a rant. Over a month ago, I was on my cross bike on my way back home from work, lost concentration and fell off when I went over a speed bump. Scrape the skin off my back, arm and knee and sprained my wrist.

The flesh wound all healed quickly but my wrist has not been right since. I only got discharged by my physio yesterday and decided to go for a ride in Swinley this morning having limited myself to the cross bike for the last month.

Got too close to a tree on babymaker and had a very small off, but on my nearly repaired sprained wrist!

I pretty much had to walk back to the car.

My wrist is back to how it was 3 weeks ago, with the good weather as well, I might as well bin both my mountain bikes now.

Rant over

It felt small to him ^^

That privee bike is alright but its aimed at 3 years plus? Surely a kid should be pedalumg by then?

My kid's almost tall enough to ride his at 18 months old - we push him around on it for now til his feet can reach the floor. I think the 3 years thing can be taken with a little salt. I've also seen videos of grown ups riding it mind you, so it covers the full range :)

You start them off on a "Tiny Bike" which is easier and smaller to ride than a standard balance bike. My lad was riding that beast before he was one or could walk! Then he moved onto a proper balance bike (Frog Tadpole) not one of them wooden turds created by satan. Then straight to a pedal bike with no stabalisers by 2ish now at 3 he wont shut up about entering races on his pedal bike, which are hard to find!

He's got a plastic thing a bit like that actually, but not shown loads of interest last try. Maybe time to try again. I'm in no hurry, so long as he is riding Rampage by about 16 or so.

Spur of the moment trip to Forest of Dean planned for today. Not gone before so really looking forward to a proper run on the Boardman!

Great day was had :D
Started with a lap of the blue trial then stopped for a coffee. After a break we went and found the downhill runs, did a really tight rooty one (not sure on the name) and wished I had my dropper post, could have binned my saddle going down that it was in the way so much :P

On recommendation from some chaps at the bottom we gave Launchpad a shot. Awesome little route, had to be done a second time!

Ok new bike time, week away riding in the highlands pretty much killed my trail bike.
looking for Min 160mm, reasonably aggressive geo, dropper, carbon preferrably but not necessary, 3k max, no direct from manufacturers, would like to be able to go into a shop test and if happy pick it up Fri/Sat next week, so will have to be in stock.

Lots of options out there, but i've found myself very very attracted to the Norco Range 7.3.
not played with one yet but plan on ringing tuesday to get a look at and a play on one, i have tryed the smaller sibling the Sight both alu and carbon models and was very impressed with how both rode, the range is just the big brother so i expect the same ride characteristics.

played on an Spesh enduro evo, initially i was interested in the enduro evo, loved the looks and it felt so capable and confidence inspiring, i felt right at home on it, but the lower priced model i played with was a little down on the component spec and X-fusion forks were topping out horribly(bike was a rental), and was a tad on the heavy side, it felt a little too lardy for longer rides though, and my current budget wont stretch to the evo expert.
so i think i've ruled that one out, but will still see if i can get a play on a enduro comp, but again the spec is a little poor and lacks dropper.

anyone got any other suggestions to demo or any input on the Range 7.3?
