Mourinho Sacked! Solskjær new interim manager

I think Solskjaer is probably a far better choice than any of the other ex-United players in management at the moment as he will be under no illusions that this is temporary and he will be back at Molde come May. I don't rate Giggs at all and I think he would try to change too much within the team and end up making a mess of things in the vain hope of doing a good enough job to keep it past the end of the season.

I think Solskjaer will probably keep Man Utd up. That should be the primary focus at this stage. Then they can rebuild in the summer with a new manager.

What has Solskjaer done to warrant a job? Laughable

What had Pep and Zidane done to deserve the jobs at RM and Barca? You can't judge a manager purely on a short history of management. Some managers take dangerous jobs, some take smaller jobs and work their way up and others try to get the biggest job they can as quickly as possible.

Getting the right manager in isn't easy. RM have struggled since Zidane, Barca have struggled since Pep. Chelsea change every few years etc.

I don't think hes going to pull up any trees but if the guy we want permanently isn't available and we have already written 4th place off then he isn't the worst choice.

There must have been a big name out there with much better experience than a failed ex Cardiff Manager? Pep/ZZ took over amazing sides, Man U's isn't...

There are better managers out there who we could take. I'm not saying he would be my first choice but I don't think he is as **** as some people are suggesting. The board obviously feel that a manager who is unlikely to rub players the wrong way or try to change everything in 6 months is a good stop gap while they sort out the next long term appointment. I don't know who we could have got for 6 months but I would be that most of them would want the possibility of staying on afterwards which makes the process of planning for the long term harder.

Now we can (in theory) get in a DoF and pursue the manager we want without wondering about the interim.

I hope this is a joke?

You do know zidane had been coaching at madrid for many seasons before taking the head coach role?

Same goes for pep iirc.

So am I right in thinking that he has not actually left his Molde job, but it’s a six month loan?

That’s quite bizarre for a manager.

Molde aren't going to get a bigger name than him so he can pretty much tell them what he wants and they would likely agree.

I'm also sure Hiddink has done the exact same thing twice for Chelsea

so it's not bizarre at all.

So why isn't every club appointing the new manager from the coaching staff if its such an obvious and easy transition. Its clearly foolproof....
