The "current team" Moyes inherited had just strolled the league, its had £700m spent on it since Moyes left and it looks no better than when he was there.
.
The "current" team as you called it was also on its last legs - RvP never played a decent season after SAF left, the whole defence needed replacing (and practically still does) - the palava with Di Maria who just needed an escape from RM for 12 months before PSG could buy him , + a squad that's been selected by three completely different managers.....+ one completely nuts Exec Vice -Chairman that knows nothing about football what so ever (and even now wants to select targets because they are cheap rather than the best target)
Yet again (admittedly with an axe to grind from the source) the Vice Chairman agreed to a deal to extend a contract that in the end cost a huge amount more for a player that has very limited ability just because he sat on his hands for months
Having Phelan back could be a stroke of genius, he's a connection to the Ferguson days and I thought it was a mistake when Moyes got rid of him.
Or its another disaster waiting to happen. So what if Phelan is connected to SAF, he also left and couldn't manage it on his own straight afterwards.....so now 5 years later he is great again , I don't think so
Someone who is available (even from history) and cheap isn't necessarily great let alone genius. There were also questions just after he left about how good he was - without question he will have gotten worse since that point (being out of the game for that long).
Its a limited length of appointment so that's the only saving grace. There might be an improvement in wins (especially given the next few games which are all definite winnable games) but will be interesting to see how long they can both keep that feeling going especially up to the Spurs game in Jan and past that.
But yes great interim appt there Utd lol. Would have been better to stick with Mou till end of season then look at alternatives.
.
Depends on which contracts were not being agreed because Mou was still in the job....already rumours Martial and De Gea were not willing to agree new deals without Mou leaving
Even before you consider the commercial signing of Pogba and the situation there....
You're the last person I expected to quote a stats article after the amount of times you've rubbished them in the past
@FrankJH
perhaps don't assume I was referring to the stats in that case (which was a very small part of the article)
