MR2 or MX5

For £2k I would think either of these is going to be getting a bit old, rattly, rusty and just generally a bit 'meh'.

Can probably drive it for a year and lose very little as long as nothing catastrophic goes wrong though... :o

what about the one i posted few posts up, im going up to rockingham this weekend, so might leave early friday and go there first have a look. only done 54,000km seems cheap

As the choice is between an NA MR2 and an MX5 I would go for the MX5 as I imagine it would be more fun(never driven an MX5). The Turbo '2 is a whole different matter, though :D

I disagree with Fox, for 2k you could get a pretty decent Rev 2 NA. My Grandad sold his black Rev 2 about 1.5 months ago for a little less than £2k. He had it for 4 years and nothing went wrong.

Which is going to be how old? Are you honestly telling me it'll be completely rattle free inside, not feel like an old car in any way and be utterly free of even surface rust?

If so, then get one, as they sound very good. I suspect this isnt the case though. I like to think the FTO we have is 'pretty decent' but it still has rattles from the sunroof, a tinny door, etc etc and just generally feels like its about 10 years old..

Its a Japanese car, its going to have rattles :p When I drove my Grandads it was fine, the bodywork was rust free and generally looks good for its age, which was an L reg, so 94?

i agree, my MR2 was £1600 and it had rattles from the sun roof, but end of the day, £2000 is going to be my top limit, that might even be pushing it :(

I'm in the same place as you, but in theory (Trying to convince the gf that I can sell my Civic and get an MX5 but she's saying one of us needs a 4/5 seater and she has her MGF!) With summer coming up an MX5 would be nice, as would a T-Bar MR2, but as said above, if you can't afford a MR2 Turbo, get an MX5 :)

Mx5 if you're a girl.

Mr2 if you're a man.

That would turn any gay man straight!

Nice work :)

Yea, congratulations on making a black car shiney when its wet :D

Its only wet in a few small places, see the run line below the Toyota badge where its running off...

Mike is cheating anyway since that picture is old and it rarely ever looks like that now :p

A rev3 N/A should be available just within that budget though. I bought my rev3 for £3k just under two years ago and it is low-mileage with FSH. I would be surprised if it hasn't depreciated below £2k (except I've had an engine transplant which will increase it's value slightly)
