UK MR2s are all GTi-16, so N/A

Go MR2, absolutely no question. Have a look around the various MR2 owners sites, a tubby is within your price range but you're talking a Rev1 ( In fair condition )

For 2K you can pick up a decent Rev2/3 N/A, or a very nice Rev1 N/A.

Yes it's an import. All tubbys are.

Looks cheap.... i've been seeing Rev1 tubbys go from around £1700-£2000 though, so not unusual. My concern would be in the colour... red at that age will almost certainly be fading/pinking.

The black one for £1200!!!! That's silly money.

Cool. Its amazing how cheap it is to insure an MR2 Turbo really.

I would be wary about buying a Rev 1, though. I hear that they are very prone to oversteer and aren't very forgiving at all.

For the price there ... £1200, get some Rev3 Bilstein struts/springs for £200 MAX from a breaker.

Job done, would be a little better.

I would say you're talking in the realms of £2000-£2300 for a reasonable example.

I've been looking at possibly selling my N/A and going Tubby, so have been looking at it for a while.

2k is my limit. but that £1200 rev 1 tubby seems amazing value
