Ms. Marvel

It’s a female led, Muslim centric TV show. I wouldn’t be surprised if half the ratings are by people who haven’t even watched the show.

As a Muslim millennial guy, I'm quite looking forward to it (although it might not be aimed at me), but I still haven't finished watching Moon Knight (on last ep) or watched any of The Boys S3 or Obi-wan yet, so I might hold off for a little while.

Sadly this.

I enjoyed the 1st episode, the filming style is quite unique compared to other marvel shows. I'm usually a sucker for these coming of age immigrant sort of films/series anyway.

To me it's never have I ever (Netflix) mixed with Marvel. I enjoy both so this seems aimed at me. Plus it's going to very clearly link to a movie, as it's already announced this character will be next year's The Marvel's movie. So it's ripe to have a Cameo or 2 from the MCU.

Disney+ description is "coming of age, comedy, super hero, action-adventure" delivers on most of that in the 1st episode.

I thought it was good but I really need a second episode. The editing and visual style is fantastic and really gives me Scott Pilgrim vibes. Avengercon was well done and great seeing lots of cosplays of stuff from the other films. Didn't think it was kiddy at all really.

There is a mid credits scene that I missed on 1st viewing. Doesn't add much, but worth mentioning!

I enjoyed the first episode; it built up quite nicely, and sets up well for the next episodes.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea for sure, but it doesn't in any way feel "woke" or anything else; better to watch it and make your own opinion before discounting it.

I need something more than that to make it a good show. I'm worried that's the standout thing for you.
It's one 45 min episode so far and it's an origin tale of sorts. The text and Graphics make it have a more comic style feel and its a show based on comics. Seems logical to me. It's a good start in my opinion and I reckon it has legs to go the distance.

Anyway it's a much shorter thread and very few Yay's compared to Nay's in this thread so far. I put it down to the fact most people won't even watch it and give it a chance due to the main star, which MissChief mentioned earlier as well.

All the Marvel movies and shows are based off comics, but can't say I recall any of those having a comic style to them. I'll watch it soon and see if it's style over substance.

I phrased it badly, but I meant its nice to see the link back to comics, in a visual style (I'm still explaining it badly).

Anyway, as you said "sell it to you" have you seen the Netflix show "never have I ever"? If you liked that, I'm convinced you will like this. or maybe the Canadian show Kim's convenience (Shang Chi was in it!)

Haven't seen either of those, no.
