Ms. Marvel

PG-14 for teeny boppers and it shows. Some of the worse viewer ratings of an MCU product to date, roughly half the viewers than the previous low which was hawkeye at 1.5m, the only exception being the animated short series what if.. which only managed around 300k.

Unknown actress, for an unknown hero targetting an audience that isn't really interested in TV let alone marvel. It also doesn't help that Disney decided to show it at the same time as Obi-Wan.

Showing it with ObiWan was a mistake, one I think they won’t repeat. Much of the ratings are review bombs from people that think heroes should only be white men and won’t have even watched it.

So far I'd say, it's fine. I'll watch to the end but I'm not overly excited to watch it week to week.

I think the lead actress playing Ms Marvel is really good. I don't think there has been enough super hero stuff or story development considering it's only 6 episodes.

I'll watch it all, what else is there otherwise, she is good I will agree there it's just a shame the story is a bit lacking. As far as origin stories go it's been a slow burner.

The big mistake they made was releasing a tv series first before the character had been introduced. It would have gone way better if she had been in a previous movie or series showing off her abilities at full potential before the origin story was introduced to flesh out the character. If we had already seen Ms Marvel in a film where she shows off her superhuman speed, strength and her ability to shapeshift, the series may have faired a bit better. I wonder if The Inventor will be her first nemesis like in the comics.

Much like how wonder women Gal Gadot was introduced in superman, before being given her own films. People knew who she was (character wise) and had already seen how awesome her powers were.

Thought the second episode was good too. I agree that I want to see the origin, why on earth would you want to see all her powers and then watch a tv show? I'm finding the mystery quite good but honestly I'm most enjoying the culture of it, I know embarrassingly little about Pakistani culture. I think the woman playing her mum is fantastic at her role.

I've watched the first 3 episodes and I do think this is pretty decent. It's good to see another culture shown in a decent light for once, rather than 24 style 'terrorists in the mosque' that we get a lot of.

Yes it's impossible to watch two shows these days that are on at the same time...back in the day we used to have VCR's there's nothing like that today.

Final episode today and having watched it all so far my final thoughts on it.

Started off a bit slow, with basic character building and setting the stage, I felt these episodes could have been compressed a little and maybe had a bit of action as she discoveres her true powers. The middle few episodes were a bit dull for me, didn't really feel compelled to watch them as the previous 2 were a bit slow. Obviously I did and while they were "ok" they were very much forgettable.

The final 2 episodes were much better, they were past the character building stage and were now more about her abilities and the action. Over all I think the mini series was ok, nothing great but it wasn't bad either.

So does this mean, ms marvel and captain marvel are some how linked through their powers?

Good ending.

All the stuff in Pakistan and the past in the last episode didn't feel authentic and it was really obvious they weren't filmed in Pakistan or even anywhere slightly similar looking. Second time in a few months we get to hear the x-men 90's cartoon riff, when Bruno mentions she has a MUTATION in her genes near the end. The X-men are coming :D The mid credits scene is pretty cool, even though it was a given we would see Captain Marvel to set up next year's film. The music and score in general have been great in this, better than any other Marvel show and the superimposed comic graphics stayed cool throughout the whole series. I would put it as equal to Moon Knight overall, maybe a touch higher as we know we will see the character again next year, and without spending large parts of the film introducing her or her powers.

5 weeks till She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
