MSI GTX780 Lightning due 07/08/13

I don't think I will be buying a 780 Classified either, how can anyone put inferior memory in a GPU built for overclocking.

They did it last year when I rma'd one of my 680 Classy's last year.

My replacement had no EvBot connector, different bios and the mem clocked poorly. +300 compared to nearly 800 on my other 2.:(

I'm out - no 780 for me

I only got it because my Titans fan is broken and I can't find a replacement :(

Is the fan the same as the 780 ref card? Mine is under water since day one and I have a brand new stock cooler but I wonder if should keep for sale time.

I believe they are physically identical except for the names on the cover.

What can I advise you about keeping it ? who knows what value these will hold, I saw a 580 Lightning go for £80 the other day here in the MM. If you want to sell it, I can put a wanted in the MM..to keep the mods happy.
Thanks for the reply.

Wasn't it just!! Its amazing to think a little over 15 months ago that was Nvidias fastest card and priced at £430!!

Mulling over a generation skip, couple of 680 SOC's with blocks may tide me over until 20nm.

If you are not going to use LN2, another option would be to buy an EVGA Superclocked ACX and just stick a reference block onto it.

I'm at a loss what to do now tbh, currently using a 480 and i seriously don't even need a card that powerful. Gibbo's deals are stonking and i'm tempted to buy either a 670/680 or two, or just carry on using what i currently have (big selection of cards to choose) provisionally sold the 7970 btw so wont be going back to that.

Putting my rig back on the test bench whilst i get sorted with next gen + blocks though, so no longer need to worry about temps rising in my case! :D Good job i never sold it :p

I would go for the current deals on the 670. Their so cheap right now.

Just bought one, £190 for a 670 is silly value for money.
Will be putting my rig back on the test bench this weekend, get the 580 lightning slapped on there and see what it can do :D

Will bench this new 480 tonight probably, been playing games with it clocked to 870/1050 so hoping it clocks higher for bench runs. Hoping out of the two 580s i'll have clock reasonably well as well :D

Will you be after a volt unlocked 680 in the not too distant future tone?

It does have a block (which I plan to buy if I go for the card).

Its the GB 680 SOC, has the same voltage hack as the Lightnings had, probably have it until something else peaks my interest, all this getting mucked about by MSI and EVGA not exactly going out of their way to get things out to Europe has put me off buying a 780.

Some looking about, they'll do ~1300mhz on stock volts and over 1500mhz on ~1.48v with a power limit of 500%
