MSI GTX780 Lightning due 07/08/13

Not great news for watercoolers wanting this card

reply from EK.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting EK Support.

Due to recent amount of work with several other blocks and items, we are not planning to make a fullcoverd waterblock for this videocard in near future.
However if we change our plans we will publish that under news section.

If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I wouldn't buy into that for a few reasons...

Work on several other blocks? Like what? The next thing to be released is the HD9000's and I seriously doubt EK have been sent ES PCB's.

They always say 'no plans' until the block has a final design and always say any changes will appear in the news section.

MSI have sent EK PCB samples to make blocks, EK wouldn't throw up an opportunity to make blocks for such a prestigious card, let alone they could potentially **** MSI off, ruling them out of any future help with advanced block design.

Its not beyond the realms of possibility that EK are under NDA from MSI either.

Worst case, EK don't make any, we push aquacomputer into making some, which are far superior blocks IMO.

Not saying EK will or won't make one however you have to question whether at £680 +/- per card the volume demand will be there for the blocks.

The 780 Classified is in the same boat.

Classified will get them as evga have the 780 classified hydro copper in the works.

EK have to look at it as an easy 75% of potential lightning buyers won't have any intention of running the card on air. My bet is on EK announcing it within a week of the cards release.

Any news on voltage modifications for the 780's, and namely the lightning?
I was disappointed with the 7970 ltg i had under water but that was mainly due to voltage limitations, think i only gainned about 50hz, obviously when benching every bit counts but to be outclassed by cards which were upto £100 cheaper and using the stock cooler(namely msi's own 7970) now that is disappointing to say the least.
The lightnings and classified's are aimed squarely at breaking records and thats with LN2 and with as much voltage as you can throw at them. I still think these companies should have an online form where you can sign away your warranty, and then have a bit more voltage to play with, then spending that £100+ on blocks etc would be well worth it, unless of course your doing it for purely aesthetics.
I still love the look of the lightning and i'm hoping its gonna be a cracker, lets just hope that msi gives the enthusiasts something to make this particular 780 live upto its name.

MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning Twin Frozr V With Propeller Blades Teased
The teased picture shows the MSI’s propeller blade technology that would be incorporated on the new Twin Frozr V cooler which the GTX 780 Lightning makes use of. The new cooler is unlike anything ever made by MSI featuring a new and powerful PCB design and also the latest iteration of the GPU Reactor Module. The card makes use of dual propeller blade fans which would sit on top of a large densely packed aluminum fin array. It looks like MSI isn’t going yellow this time with their Lightning graphic card and instead making use of a silver and black color theme.

Not ebay, details are lacking/incorrect but I think it is more than likely correct, don't want to tease but I'm sure you can google.
