MSI to offer 55% launch-day discount on P55 motherboards

I'm glad I saw that as I was a bit confused about how that button thing worked. I mean if I hadn't actually seen the guy put his finger on it, I'd probably never have worked it out:D

And it definitely doesn't do it in 1 second. Mine clicks away and clicks away and clicks away and restarts repeatedly until eventually it restarts with a smaller and smaller overclock with each BIOS upgrade.

cant you just use the + and - buttons to increase it higher each time.

the one second is how long it takes to press the button :D I should take about 10 seconds and give on average around 20% instant and stable overclock (hardware dependant).

I should not keep restarting with a smaller overclock :S How do you mean?

When i first seen msi doing a demo on youtube they said upto 20% increase when you use oc gemie.

Once all my build arrives am i safe to just boot up with OC genie enabled and run with stock cooler etc? Or should i really look into manual OC and forget the OC Genie?

I'm new to overclocking but have been doing a serious amount of reading in preperation for my build arrival! Hopefully i can get a basic OC and then find some kind soul that will give me some pointers as to what to change!

On the V1.0 BIOS I got 4.2GHz on the OC Genie after about 5 or 6 restarts.

On the V1.2 BIOS I got 3.5GHz on the OC Genie after about 5 or 6 restarts.

On the V1.4 Beta II BIOS I'm getting 3.2GHz on the OC Genie after about 5 or 6 restarts.

It's definitely getting worse.

Am i right in assuming the higher the voltages the more reduction in life span of the hardware? Are there any other dangers/impacts i should be aware of?

Sorry for the "noob" questions i guess we all have to start somewhere. I'd just rather not fry my CPU and RAM etc the day it arrives ;) lol

Yes, I do sound like a stuck record but.....

I was in the first wave (I think), my order says 11.15am for GD65.
Its 6pm. I am in the whorehouse queue.
And I paid £9 ex VAT for next day delivery.

As I have said before, if it wasn't for the forums I would have NO idea what was happening.

You are right.
Its actually a heat cycle thing (I believe) as well as just voltage, so if you crank up the voltage, but keep the chip cooled, the damage is minimal.
Of course, there are seemingly no good coolers ATM, so I wouldn't go nuts on a high OC yet.
But my 2.4GHz E6600 has been running at 3GHz with a minor over volt for 3 years now, so it won't decrease its life that much :)

so you use oc genie then evertime you restart with oc genie still running it gets a better clock each time ?

Just read the last few pages of this thread, seem's im not the only one who is still in the warehouse queue. Could a mod kindly let us know if it will now be tomorrow they are being dispatched as i need to know when to be in.
I asked last wednesday in the order queries forum after being told i had a GD80, (got in early and ordered at 11.04am, thew) and my response was
You have been allocated a GD80 Motherboard. It will be dispatched on Monday for you.

Although this doesn't seem likely anymore with it nearing 7pm and still being in the warehouse queue :(

It has been said that all GD65 orders will be fulfilled.

Patience is the key here, it's not ideal i realise!

As for the shipping peeps have paid, just be happy you snagged a bargain compared with other boards. There was bound to be madness with this offer!...
*flame suit donned*

p.s. 2pm ish order here too :)
