MSI UK Details its Sandy Bridge Exchange Program

This is a bit silly, but I'm not 100% sure which number is the serial number on my board to register. Is it the sticker below the cpu socket? Starts with AC?

EDIT: no, no it's not. So to save me having to remove everything to locate it, anyone who has one know where on the C45 board is the SN?

If I register now for advanced replacement, is it possible to select a delivery date as there's no guaranteeing anyone will be around to take the delivery? Alternatively, can I register now and simply not pay the invoice until the end of April when I'll have a spell of time off and be around for delivery?

I got my SN off the box so I have no clue sorry. Going by This it looks like it will be on the back of the mobo on a sticker.

Can someone who's done an advanced replacement with a C45 tell me how much they charged you? Just wondering how much its going to cost going from a C45 to GD65.

Stupidly gave my brother my old board in the box for my p67 board, so don't have original packaging or the SN from box. Lesson learned. Looks like it's coming out then!

hi guys,

just to clarify a couple of things, we made a slight alteration to the advanced replacement process to allow end users time to switch the boards at their convenience.

If you want an upgrade you can contact us at [email protected], the cost of the upgrade will be approximately the difference between the RRP of the boards in question. This wasn't an option that we publicised at first because the registration site doesnt have the capability to log this request, but we have been doing it for customers specifically requesting it. To make things as easy as possible to arrange, we have only been offering upgrade options as part of an advanced replacement. i.e. use paypal to charge for the upgraded board and then refunding for the original. For reference, going from C45 to GD65 will cost £35 and from GD55 to GD65 £10.

The advanced replacement holding fee is slightly more than RRP because the market prices for the board varied a lot and we wanted to encourage end users to return of the orignal board rather than selling it on.

Me neither. I completed the form over the weekend and have hear nothing back (Standard replacement). Was I meant to get something?

I did it on the day it was announced (10th March) only went for standard replacement.

Not overly fussed though as it was originally said it would be done around April time.

Hi,

You should have received an automated email confirmation of registration but the likelyhood is that you won't receive any further contact regarding the exchange for at least another week as we are currently processing exchange requests from those who registered during the flood of registrations within the first few days. As it stands however, we have only had GD65 stock land in our warehouse so I apologise to those of your who own other models, but we have been unable to start your exchanges yet. All being well the stock for these will land in the next week or two.

If you haven't received the automated confirmation and you want to doublecheck that you are registered contact me via trust with your name & email address and I can check the registration list.

One P67A-GD65 Advance replacement has just arrived, absolutely perfect timing as I was going to have to do a reinstall of Win7 tonight anyway :)

Thanks MSI (providing it works lol)

Probably a stupid question, but I hadn't even considered that we'd have to reinstall windows when the mobo was replaced, is this true even though it's essentially the same board going back in?

I've had the automated confirmation for the advanced option but waiting for payment request via paypal. Haven't had anything for a while. I'll give it another week and see what happens.
