MSI's X570 Tomahawk May Become Go-To OC Board??

I had a small number booked in yesterday, obviously not enough to clear back-orders.

MSI updated me this morning and based on that update the next lot won't leave the factory until mid July due to PCB supply problems. At which time we've got another 100pcs coming direct from the factory, so we should, again, get our stock before anybody else.

This is what customer service looks like. Factual and to the point! Thanks for the update.

Looks like I'm going to have to find another board if I need to wait until Mid July, I suspect mine is broken as I can't boot into windows with an Nvidia driver installed).

So far I've

1) replaced the video card with a different one,
2) tried all 3 RAM combinations (each individual stick and together)
3) because I could I've even replaced the cpu with a different one - I think I've run out of other options.

So when you remove the Nvidia driver (and use a generic one) it boots into Windows fine?

yep it runs happily with the default windows driver
Then that doesn't sound like a broken motherbord if it boots fine without the drivers... it sounds to me more like a compatability issue. Have you updated the BIOS, laest chipset drivers and the very latest Nvidia drivers?

have you the up to date mobo chipset drivers installed?

So it started as an existing install but after the first set of failed boots I reinstalled windows on to the other nvme drive wiping the first one (as it had nothing on it).

then when I ended up in safe mode on the freshly installed system I installed the and board drivers. And it worked fine until I installed the Nvidia driver again

after that I’ve swapped video cards - no difference (I thought it was a dodgy card)
Then tested the memory sticks
The finally swapped the cpu

I’ve now drained the system and put in a b450 board I had that I was using for other purposes. I sadly can’t go any further as I’ve managed to drop and lose the m2 screw for the nvme drive so I can’t do anything until tomorrow when a set of screws arrive from the river.

Have you googled your issue (I found several threads similar to your situation) https://www.google.com/search?q=new...3974j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&safe=strict and also tried making a detailed thread in the techsupport section of Reddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/

Yep I did initial start googling it which included swapping dp cables and using an hdmi cable instead. Basically pick a replaceable part and I've tried it (cables, windows install, cpu, memory, graphics card) all end up with the same result of

I get a critical bugcheck error when the driver is installed The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff8040d3781fe, 0xffff8009a1e9c548, 0xffff8009a1e9bd90). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Double check results in the same error

Better to make a dedicated thread here on this forum too instead of use this general thread for specific troubleshooting.

Also, would be a good idea to make a detailed troubleshooting thread on Reddit as I suggested as it has a ton of experts on there too. Increase your options for help.

Woop woop just got mine very excited to start my build later

Starting to regret ordering this board but i suppose i can wait it out.

Just excited to get up and running. I know the monitor i've ordered is also on pre-order till early July so it wont be TOO much after that, hopefully. Guess it depends how deep I am in the queue.

Got mine set up yesterday, I'm still playing around with settings but is boosting my 3800x to 4.525 on a couple of cores with manual voltage at 1.325 in the bios.

The bios is pretty ******, fan control is a pain as my mouse dosnt respond very well in it.
Ive been playinh arounf with PBO and seeing 1.5V being used, so im just getting my head around the settings.

Fan control is a pain because of your mouse? You mean your mouse doesn't work well in the BIOS?

yeah sorry my mouse moves at a snails pace in the bios so it took me about 20mins to set fan profiles.
The Bios itself looks pretty comprehensive. ive mainly been messing with PBO and CPU voltages, which can be done from Ryzen master anyway.
I've only had 1 hard lock that needed a CMOS clear. that was caused by messing with the RAM which i will fine tune at some point.

Can you use the keyboard arrow keys to move around?
