MSI's X570 Tomahawk May Become Go-To OC Board??

Phew, just finished reading 37 pages! I've just ordered, this mobo being the first purchase towards my new build, so thought I should read up. It might be sitting in the box a while depending on Zen 3 availability, but couldn't resist at £180 :D

Main takeaway I got was not to use MSI network software, and check IF when overclocking memory to make sure a divider doesn't kick in. Anything else?

I'm heading over to the memory and hdd forums now to help choose mem and an nvme. It's going to be a big change from my current Xeon x5650!

aesthetics? It's two slots in use instead of 4. You could just close the case door :D
2 x 32GB gives you the option of another 2 x 32GB in future.

Going for a tempered glass side panel case. This is my first RGB build, so I'm gonna go all out with RGB. Feel like I need to get it out of my system!

By the time I need 128GB RAM, Zen3 will be well and truly obsolete.

Haha. Release the rainbow! :)
Most probably but i’m sure some have a use case for 128GB RAM

Anyone else got issues with the wifi dropping out on this board? Does it at random. Drivers are the ones from their site as don't have a CD Drive anymore to use the disc that came with it. Anything i should change in bios?

Should add that windows didn't have ANY wifi drivers for this board when first installed , so had to use my laptop to download them... Works fine most ofn the time but if i could stop the random DC's it'd be nice.

No issues here. What version of Windows are you using? Because 10 had drivers all ready to go for me when I set mine up.

I have driver version 22.0.0.6 (17/9/20 release) installed.

All fine here, might be worth reinstalling the drivers

10 Here too. I'm set to do a fresh install of windows this weekend so it's on an M.2 drive, wonder if that'll fix it? Been putting it off for a while...

had issues and discovered that it was the wifi 6 not playing ball with my Virgin Hub 3. Try disabling the wifi 6 signal in the wifi adapter properties.

I'd be tempted to reinstall. Mind, I'm using Insider Preview builds of 10 so it's (effectively) reinstalled pretty regularly as it upgrades from build to build.

Oh, that's interesting. My router (the dreaded TalkTalk SuperRouter Of Spooky Doom™ :p) doesn't have WiFi 6 at all so maybe that's why I've not experienced the same issues?

Probably. I kept having disconnects randomly every maybe half hour, for 10 to 20 seconds each time.

I have a virgin hub too so will give that a go, do you mean you disabled ipv6?

No, it’s the 802.11ax setting. That enables wifi 6. Just choose the mode without ax but with ac (wifi 5). I believe that was the only setting that made a real difference. There’s also a sensitivity setting which sets at how low signal should the wifi switch between 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I originally thought that might have been the issue, but it didn’t do anything for me. As soon as I disabled wifi 6, no more disconnects.
