Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Just found interest in this tread, not been through all of it but have 2 questions.
How much would be a set up that would let me fly and take pictures or video cost.

Also is there any members in the north east that maybe interested in a project email in trust

If you just want to fly and take pictures with no hassle, right out of the box with excellent quality; get a DJI Phantom Vision. £915 for the Vision+, £750 for the standard Vision.
There's also the Phantom FC40 which is a Phantom 1 with a camera attached. Not as good as the Vision but a fair bit cheaper at £350.

It's on BACKORDER Though isn't it?

Yes, but that doesnt bother me too much as I have my Vision, Heli's & car to mess about with while Im waiting. Plus I have a bit of extra cash this week that I probably wont have when the 250 is back in stock.

Good man. Buy a big box of 5030 props from here before you invest in fancy carbon props, myrcmart are really cheap but they haven't let me down so far.

Whats the best to buy - the 2 blade or 3 blade props??

2 blade are a bit more efficient, 3 blade for better for thrust (carrying a cam)

At this end of the spectrum there isn't that much in it, some people swear by 2 blade, some 3 blade. Either I've been really lucky or every set of 5030 triblades I've used have been really well balanced with little vibration. At these prices though, grab both kinds and try yourself - buy plenty because you will need them :p

Remember you need CW and CCW of each, in case you didn't know

Oh and Genoma, i googled that camera, spec suggest it is a shade under 200g :p you want an all in weight of ~500g on a 250 sized quad, otherwise its a bit of porker. The Mobius action cam weights in at 39g, worth a look

E: in Columbo style, one more thing - threadlock, medium strength. Just use it :p

Been range testing F550, got to 900m this morning (in this photo I am red dot)

Have just finished adding the 2nd battery for 20min fly time, and put the antennas to full length. Will also make sure I angle up my TX antenna... hoping to get out to 2km, though not sure FPV will hold out that far. Results to follow shortly, or photos of wreckage.

rth, on the onscreen display on fatsharks you start seeing 'FS' flicker up as you get to edge of range...

Before putting antennas away from arms and landing gear I was hitting this at 350m... on shorter straws got to 900m before FS, this might be better especially with remembering to angle my tx antenna

The flight will be all over farmland though so no danger to anyone.

I lost the antenna cable on my rx a few weeks ago and didn't notice, got about 50m over the boggiest, most overgrown bramble/nettle patch in the park and my tricopter just fell like a shot duck. No damage except my pride, muddy boots and a squishy walk home

Ouch, yeah without rth it must be a big worry... I think it will still be brown trousers time as it's a long way to walk to go find it if I ditch somewhere lol

Yeah it's a great place to fly early in morning, not many people about just the odd dog walker. With goggles I can see a fixed view from the FPV camera, so what 550 is seeing.

The gopro will be on a gimbal for stable footage once China delivers :(
