Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Bah, people. My usual flying spot, which has thus far been deserted every time I've visited, even when sunny, was rammed from 10am. Going to have to get back in the early morning habit :(

Hrm, I'm thinking I may have to flog the P2 setup and get/build something much cheaper. I need to buy a paraglider very soon and overtime isn't going to cover the cost. :/

I've got a bad feeling the local councils are going to be cracking down on people flying these in parks too, no matter how sensible people are being. One of the guys I bumped into before said he had a park warden turn up and going mad about it despite no-one else being around.

"No helicopters or planes"
"It's a quadcopter"
"Well, no flying things then"

@Rilot, where did you buy your 10,000mAh LiPos from? I'm finding stockists few and far between.

Also seems like a lot of the bits and bobs aren't stocked by one individual supplier. Who have you use in the past?

I run 2 x 6000mAh Turnigy Nano-Techs in parallel. That's going to be a bit small for your S1000 though. I get 13 mins of flight time but I'm going to come in at around 2kg lighter than you.
These will do you: http://www.giantshark.co.uk/product/172601/gens-ace-10000mah-222v-25c-6s1p-lipo-battery-pack 2 in parallel.
And one of these to charge them: http://www.giantshark.co.uk/product/173234/icharger-4010-duo
And this to power the charger: http://www.heliguy.com/Extras/LiPo-Chargers/Fusion-2000W-Adjustable-10-26V-Power-Supply/

I buy things from all over the place. My S800+A2 I bought from Heliguy.

Ta. Just emailed Kings Lynn Model Shop as well as they seem to have everything we need (unlike the others) so just running the spec past them... in fact just had a call from them mid-typing...! They have the S1000 and everything else in stock as well surprisingly.

A2 I think. The guy seemed pretty knowledgeable and said there were a few problems with the A2 and some updates (which mirrors some of what the course guys said) but if he were building an S1000 system now he'd use the A2.

Edit - ordered the kit from the bay. More expensive than hobbyking but it will be here this weekend with the following spec.

1 x FPV250 Mini Quadcopter Frame
2 x RCX 1804 (2400KV *L) Micro Outrunner Brushless Motor
2 x RCX 1804 (2400KV *R) Micro Outrunner Brushless Motor
8 x M2 6mm Screws and M2 Washers
4 x RCX 10amp Simonk ESC
1 x 36mm Power Distribution Board
4 x 5030 Propeller 2 Bladed (2 Black & 2 Green)
1 x Set of Plastic Standoffs for Flight controller
1 x Velcro Battery Strap
1 x 14AWG wire 7cm Red/Black

Went with a KK2.1.5 flight controller, Turnigy 9x radio, 1x1000 3S, 2x1500 3S lipos, and Turnigy charger+PSU. Some spare props chucked in :) Looking forward to it.

Where is the best place to get props? Is there a difference between 5030's and 5030Rs?

Goodluckbuy £47 gimbal.... Can tilt using knob on tx, amazing for dosh. Gotta sort out slight angle

That looks really good! Ive read a few times that its a pos, but that was for the Phantom Vision. Dunno if its the same design but it makes me tempted to invest in one.

Looks like a decent set of bits Russ. I'd probably stick an extra FPV camera on the build that you can switch to with the iOSD. Just means that if the 5D goes spaz, you have a backup camera for orientation.

I'd also go with the DJI AVL58 video tx as it integrates perfectly with the iOSD Mk2. Yes, I know it breaks the transmission limits for the UK but no one seems to care.
