Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I'm generally fairly cautious with my packs, I've ruined a couple being too cavalier with voltages and learned the hard way (damaging packs and one small fire). I've seen a couple of mAh meters about but they are generally upwards of 50g and an awkward size/shape, which is fine for larger quad/tricopters but my interests lie in the micro FPV end of the spectrum. Do you know of any micro variants Rilot?

The smallest one I know of is the FAS-40 which weighs in at around 17g: http://www.frsky-rc.com/product/pro.php?pro_id=124

Has the hobbyking website removed the option for customs and declarations amounts on the payment screen?

Ordered a few bits from hong kong for my first build and there wasn't a box with 10%, 30%, 100%, gift, toys etc. Sort of unsure what it'll go through at as some people say they do it at 30% unless you specify otherwise.

Legally you must pay duty and vat based on purchase price, I clicked full value for Goodluckbuy and they sent marked as gift. Doh

I put this stuff through business so am happy to pay vat as I claim it back

Got stung for £30 customs being honest with my last Banggood order. AFAIK HK stopped doing that a while ago, I don't recall seeing it recently

Not really what i asked though was it?

So do they stick it through at the full amount or as a percentage? I'm being somewhat impatient so if it's low value was hoping it would slip through, making it a bit quicker than having to wait around for someone to check it, value it, repack it and add a week to the shipping time so they can claim their "admin fee"

Even when I set it to declare the value of the parcel (otherwise insured is even more of a waste of money), they still didn't put through the right amount. The £30 figure was the customs duty + "handling fee" from the courier, so added up to what I would have paid in duty anyway if they declared it correctly :/

Express shipping = you probably will get stung
Slow boat = you probably will get away with it

Yeah, i did it slow post, hence me hoping nobody adds any extra time to it! Pretty excited to get it all here and start building it up.

My list so far...

Got a 9xr transmitter off ebay so that should be here in a couple of days.

Bits from hobbyking hong kong:
Frsky module/receiver bundle from hobbyking hong kong
Afro 30A esc's x4
kk 2.1.5 flight controller
some lights, stobes and cable extensions.

Just got to pick batteries, charger, motors to suit a talon v2 carbon quad frame. Gonna order these from the uk hobbyking site due to size/weight.

Thinking talon v2 carbon frame, either NTM Prop Drive Series 2826 1000kv or Turnigy D2836/9 950KV. then i just need to get my head around battery sizes and chargers :(

First multirotor? The Talon isn't a bad frame by any stretch but something like this would be quite a bit more forgiving in, erm, unplanned landings :D

Well i've got a hubsan q4 as well, not exactly the same in terms of size but i can happily fly it around the room at full speed without any problems. The talon will have a go pro gimbal on the bottom as well for chase cam biking videos so i'm thinking something big and stable for filming and once the bug has set in properly build something like the somawarp quad posted a page or so ago. That thing looks insanely hard/good fun. :D

How do you get it to show then? I checked screenshots and i definitely didn't have the same screen as the pictures. Something to do with the gold/platinum ratings?

Hi guys I have just bought a DJI Phantom 2+ and have a question about the batteries. I have been reading that you shouldn't discharge them completely as this can affect the ability to recharge them, is that true? I've noticed that after running both my batteries very low they seem to take a very long time to recharge, literally overnight. The first couple of charges I did were much quicker. Any advice?

say what , I'm assuming that was due to using an express shipping method?

made 90+ orders and not been hit once, but then I always use the free post option.

No, but you asked on a public forum why the options to defraud HMRC had disappeared from a far east supplier site. My reply simply confirmed the fraud dangers of your question (which you may of been unaware of).

You should really try and force them to put 100% as the declare... but these kind of suppliers often ignore any value requests which if purchasing for business use really messes things up for accounting purposes :(. I import several thousands of £ of goods from China a month and getting them to do things correctly so you get a shiny C79 cert at end of every month is a tricky thing. If they get it wrong it's my mess to sort out, and if I can't sort it out I risk a £10,000 fine for downmarking goods value :(

I guess the chances of this are slim though as these HK / Chinese suppliers ignore the law almost entirely
