Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Tested range yesterday with 150mw setting on Devo 10 and got to 1300m. Todays mod, hack out the moulded 3dB antenna and add a socket with 5dB antenna (socket and antenna ripped from a old router). Lots of glue later...

No, but you asked on a public forum why the options to defraud HMRC had disappeared from a far east supplier site. My reply simply confirmed the fraud dangers of your question (which you may have been unaware of).

You should really try and force them to put 100% as the declare...

I didnt ask why it was removed. Simply if it had been removed. I've explained my reasons further up, just didnt really need the whole moral high-horse thing as i'm already aware of the legalities.

It's not moral high horse, HMRC doesn't legislate for morals. (I wish they did though hah)

In your later post you said you wanted to have it 'slip' through at a low value to speed up delivery. Anyway, it's not my concern so ignore my mindless ranting, it's bought on by my hate of HMRC and the money they rob me of... but I personally wouldn't talk on a public forum about wishes of avoiding VAT & Duty, even if only bought on by the wish to have goods quickly..... anyways need to get back on topic, VAT is very veryyyyy dull lol

So do they stick it through at the full amount or as a percentage? I'm being somewhat impatient so if it's low value was hoping it would slip through, making it a bit quicker than having to wait around for someone to check it, value it, repack it and add a week to the shipping time so they can claim their "admin fee"

Make sure you get the accessory pack with them, I didn't realise I needed it until they were delivered and had to wait for another delivery from China

Ah i didn't know that. So i'm gonna need to get one of those for each motor.

Well this is looking like it's getting closer to a finish point. So i need to pick my motors, pick the rotors to fit them and then pick a battery to power it all and i'm done.

So my final choices for motors are...

Just spent 1 hour converting 6 li-po's from XT-60 to EC3... now all my battery's (Turnigy, Overlander, Eflite) have the same length wiring and the same connectors. No more trying to squeeze cabling in to my Blade 350qx!

Never soldered before so messed up the first two connectors but by the third they were completely clean :D

I am also quite pleased I didn't electrocute or burn myself :D

So hobbyking said standard new members have a default of 100% customs declaration and only gold/platinum members can specifiy customs declarations so that clears that up. They also said you can check your customs declaration form by viewing your order and looking at the pdf of the customs invoice. Just in case anybody wants to know for future reference.

So what will i be looking at for delivery time now? Sent using registered air mail.

DJI have updated the A2 to version 2.3 if anyone is interested. Reports I'm reading seem to indicate that this has fixed the loss of control issues with 2.2. It won't make those who flew it and crashed get their crafts back though.

Glad I stayed on 2.1. I wish DJI would test these things before they release them. I've got £5k in the air and others like Russ have even more. We need to be able to trust the damn FC.

That's good service you can check paperwork... I had to wait for 6 weeks for Gimbal from HK goodluckbuy, that was using cheapest service which was traceable air mail. I got a feeling they didn't actually dispatch for a while though.

Good news Rilot, you updated yet ? ....I'm not sure how I would cope with all that dosh in air, I get the jitters if FS flashes up on iOSD with a £1500 quid F550

Got the F550 exactly how I want it now... but I have started to get that 'need more shiny stuff in the post' itch already :(

I'll update tomorrow and maybe fly it then if the weather is OK. 2.1 which I'm not now has it's own set of issues around yaw authority which makes it weird to fly.

Personally, when changing battery connectors, i secure the ground first with the live still in its old connector. Am yet to die a horrific electrical death :D
