Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Completely agree with Russ on this one. The rules are there for a very good reason. A multirotor without control is a 7kg brick. Think how much damage one could do to a person if one slammed in to them.
Even though I'm not certified I fly away from people in a controlled manner with rigorous pre-flight checks. I also have insurance.

My Devo-rx601 receiver finally turned up today but cant pair it with the Devo 7e tx. Its compatible but the old brain cell isnt kicking in. Ill have another try later/tomorrow.

BUT, I did manage to get this earlier with my Vision.

The screen said 400ft, but in reality its a bit lower. I just need to take it higher.

In reality less than 2kg. While I see the point about banning following in urbanized areas (for example) the blanket banning of this kind of thing is not what should be done. An example being weight of drone being taken into account. Someone flying a 1.5 KG drone in a field a mile from the nearest town and someone flying a 7kg drone in a town centre should have different rules.

That's a point though, is the ban the whole of the UK or just public places (ie can you use a "follow me" drone on a field you own?)

I am such a div. I had the wires connected the wrong way round (black wire was wrong side). All working fine now, just need to set it up proper.

Im in the 250 club :)

Got my H3-3D gimbal... hurrah.

Now, am I better off using the live video out from the GoPro to my iOSD Mini->VTX or should I take the video out from the main board? I take it the anti interference board means I should get cleaner output from the board?

not sure of your exact setup but it sounds like you need a video switcher:

As long as any video clean up filters are on the tx and everything else runs of its own power it should be good.

so ive been using an er drone 2.0 for about a year now. im looking to go more serious now.

i know there are hundreds of "how to build a quadcopter" pages but where are the best places for parts?

Just wondering if anybody had seen this website......

untestedprototype

A few free cad plans for some pretty tasty looking quads. Just need to find some a skilled CNC machinist now to cut one for me. The Hammer is available from makeitbuildit, but it's g10 and I quite fancy a CF one.

I've ordered some high KV tiny motors and some new ESC's that should be abot to cope with the motors, so will keep you posted!

Just a thought, but if I was to get a few cut, would anybody else be interested in one?

Giantshark are also quite useful for various bits....

It's OK, I've got my gimbal working now and decided to use the GoPro for FPV for a while to see how that works. Apparently there's an FPV mode for the H3-3D. Installation is much tidier this way anyhow although I'm not sure how the live out will measure up to my normal FPV camera.
