Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Wow that looks wicked.

Ordered my X4 last night and told my gf that I'm looking to get a bigger one that can carry a camera, has GPS and a FPV she wasn't impressed! Said its a waste of money! Women don't know anything! :D

Its cf, or at lease the fastsharkstore ones are :p

Get a multimeter out and test continuity alone the edges of the weave - cf is conductive, well worth remembering!

very nice little 250  i think i might get one for a winter indoor hover project.

i recently bought and have been flying a 4 in 1 Qbrain 25A esc from HK very nice and small esc, heat doesnt seem to be a problem and it would be perfect on that 250 quad.
it nicely tidys the wiring and reduces weight (i lost 286gram). might be worth a look?

i didnt even flash to simon K as it seems fine without, turns out the Qbrain has a standard refresh rate of 400hz.

Just ordered a Hubsan X4 and was wondering if the battery can be easily swapped out if required? I know it only has a very small flight time and would like to be able to have a few batteries on the go. Sorry if it's been asked before, there are a lot of pages to search through!

Yup, the battery slides out.

I got mine yesterday, SO MUCH FUN!

Had some good flights recently and have a video to post but have to wait till my nets sorted on Tuesday to upload it, really need to get an OSD as guessing your altitude with fpv goggles on is pretty hard till it's too late, do photos with the gopro hero 2 look further away than they really are? See photo at the bottom.

Please can somebody recommend a good tri copter flight controller that has all the goodies like GPS, RTL, position hold etc etc. I was going to get a naza v2 but it doesn't support tri's so my second choice is an eagle tree vector. Anything else I should consider?

I'm also after a good fpv camera, the gopro is ok but I want a simple gimbal for that to get better videos.
Also need a new antenna for my TX and RX, again ideas welcomed as I'm lost for choice.

Hehe it's my new field after the the wonderland Car park started charging, I used to fly on the rugby club field with my hubsan. Maybe I'll see you there one evening :)

Don't jab them with screwdrivers and you'll be fine ;)

My maiden flight has been delayed. Turns out that while HobbyKing have gone full hog with XT60 connectors on their batteries, they haven't done the same with their accessories. Unpacked my nice shiny charger to discover it has every type of battery connector, except XT60 :(.

Quick and dirty mod on a £15 TK102 GPS / GSM tracker. It came with a lipo and weighed 50g, now weighs 25g and powered from 5V on F550. Not tested on bird yet. You ring it and it reports back via SMS GPS Google map link or GSM location if GPS unavailable. Should be good if it survives crash and at least one of my main lipos stays intact.

Has a PAYG SIM in it...

Do you have any loose ones? I just made my own, using a connector and the original deans or whatever connector wires.
