Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Off to Maplins now to get a refund.

I fly planes already so have a transmitter, Spektrum DX6i

If I was to DIY whats my options and costs?

Have got Husband Q4 and X4 already

I've got one from FatSharkStore thats proper carbon, but was only £25.

Unfortunately it looks like FatSharkStore has closed now as the owner has been screwed by Fat Shart :(.

There are a number of others on here with chinese carbon clones, so check who has had good experiences.

The ones from Makeitbuildit are exactly the same, so really good for the money.

Lloyd will be back soon, he's working on his new site rcextra.co.uk

I understand that most are not actually carbon but a plastic/epoxy mix or something like that.

carbon sheeting is quite cheap and if you were to say have access to a laser cutter bed, you could churn them out.

SOME are real, some are carbon laminated fibreglass, some seem to be more resin than carbon. There's a massive discussion on RCGroups about it. Mine seems legit and has taken some serious abuse

Refunded without issues. They even admitted having some brought back missing screws

Great thing about building your own, you know its all there :D

Some goodies arrived today from HK, Some new props....10x4.5, A super simple OSD, A new antenna for my TX and a new fatshark filter although I'm not sure I even needed that after testing without one :(

Just need to figure out how to wire up this sony super had camera now

Its easy peasy, just check and double check polarity when you solder it up. If its the same as mine, it will even come with a servo connector terminated cable, which I thought was a nice touch. With some gentle persuasion, you can use this cable to connect it to your vtx assuming it has standard 2.54mm pitch pins and has 12v out (some Fatshark stuff is 5v iirc) ;)

Just finished stitching this pano... original is 12521x4913 and 50MB

There are a lot of fakes about too. However I can confirm mine is CF as the damage to the front from flying into a scrum machine means the weave of CF is now exposed :)

This guy is amazing (these have not been speeded up)

Seriously... this video is still giving me goosebumps. Actual goosebumps.

Are there any more like this? I can only find the videos he has on his channel but you said he flies with a team so there must be more.

Pleeassee!! Hahaha.

One impact with the ground too many today, one of my T pieces has finally given up the ghost. The arm is practically hanging off, and whilst it's still flyable it slowly twists and my quad starts yawing by itself!
Was trying to get the hang of a half barrel roll into a loop, not yet managed it cleanly, I'm struggling to get the muscle memory there to do the 2 separate half flips. Even doing a pretty rocky combo without a clean flowing exit still looked pretty awesome though!

Anyone know if I could buy some Aluminium T pieces to replace the plastic ones with? Will weigh a little more but take even more abuse. I've got no problem with replacing bits of the actual tube - just swapping a T piece as it is atm involves dismantling most of the quad!

I had a mishap tonight too trying stunts etc, battery died as I was coming in to land and it fell and popped its legs off and a bust prop. Gives me reason to fit my new stuff :D

Did my first flips and rolls tonight, If I knew it was so easy I would have been doing them ages ago...I am flying FPV so that probably helps :D

In a word no, search youtube for juz70 and dborup they are another two guys sponsored by Lumenier and they are really good but nothing like CHARPU.

just ordered some 5 x 4 x 3 blade HQ props to try out on the 250.

Flew really well with 6 x 3, 2 blade props / FPV250 pro frame / RCX 1806 motors BTW.

Like juz70's vids the best by a big margin. Smooth and progressive flying in more interesting locations. Most of the other videos just look sped up and put me off!
