Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Cool bookmarked the page, and will get the battery ordered, sorry it is just because I want to try and get it ordered for the weekend, its a bit of a rush, no idea on weight at the moment.

At home now and going to look at checking the firmware on the radio, and look at upgrading to the latest stable release Open TX firmware, mine is running opentx-x9dp-v2.0.9

Going to try and do some of the flight controller plugging in aswel and fitting to the quad.

This turned up today. Ordered in October I think. Didn't ship until the 8th January and got here today from Australia. Cost was £118 in the end including shipping and RM gouging. OSD, GPS etc. Waypoints and groundstation link/app coming soon.

Its going on a mini hexa with 6" props, cobra 1960kv motors, and a 4s battery as big as it will carry :)

It's tiny!

Soldered the Naza V2 PMU to the board, going to clean up the board with PCB cleaner and them stick masking tape over the connections

Does it look like I have the arms and motors correct here?

I am following a youtube video or the main build

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER2GxMo0X3E

and this to install the Naza V2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJZa7p3rsCU

However they do it differently

My skyzone goggles and sony effio V turned up today, took me a while to peel my self out of bed to look at them as i have man flu but initial impressions are very good.

I was a little worried about latency on the camera but once i hooked it all up to a power supply to test it i was more than happy.

Then something horrible happend! magic smoke and a flash of light from the camera, i quickly unplugged it all and checked it over to find a scorch mark on the 12.7mhz dual rail opamp. my heart sunk but i figured i would hook it up to test it and low and behold it still works... i left it on for around 30 minutes and still it worked, it got fairly hot but operated as normal so I'm very confused.

As you can see form the picture it is most certainly damaged and on first glance you would be forgiven for thinking the camera was dead but it soldiers on. I have looked at all the wiring and checked it over but can not find how it would have shorted, maybe just a duff?

Im going to rig it up and leave it on for a hour or so tomorrow, if it still works after that ill think nothing more of it.

Does it look like my arms are in the corrisponding places?

Following a youtube vid from marionvillemodels, and I have set it up as per that, but then jump to another video officially about setting up the DJI f450 and the arm positions are different

looks fine - you can always easily change the motors orientation round anyway once you check them

I followed this diagram to keep me right

Also these 2 videos helped me as well

BAsically the same layout etc as mine. Also my brain is simple - i think "red is rear" when flying (my arms are clear but I have red lights on them)

Looks good to me, the idea is you can mount a camera on the shelf that sticks out the front so you want them front and rear.

Sweet, ok thanks that clears that up, now better crack on :p

only thing concerning me now is that image above of the numbered motor locations, DJI refer it as

Front

2 ------- 1

3 -------- 4

Rear

Similar thing happened to me with a vTx, I was using it output power to drive the camera and it went pop. Turns out it was a common problem and isn't man enough to drive other devices as well

I'm looking at about £25+5 or so postage for turnigy 4s 25c battery, sound about right price wise?

I have no clue on brands or performance so don't really want to risk cheaper ones

Need to order the imax b6 and a xt60 connection for it, no chance in going to have all this for the weekend :(

What mah?

Is that price from the Hobbyking UK warehouse? HK sell all the Turnigy batteries much cheaper than anywhere else.

Also just to point out the imax b6 is only 50w I made the mistake of buying that.

Hobby king is selling the 4S 25C 5000mah for £37, probably the most expensive iv seen it

I had the Imax B6 for my RC plane Lipo which seemed ok? I sold all my kit a few years ago though

I have only got around £15-£25 to spend on a balance charger

Cheapest I can find for the turnigy above is £33inc postage

Going to get that I think
