Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Was getting all excited for the flying season ramping up and it went and drizzled all day lol. Can't wait to get back in the goggles - got two new quads built and ready (130mm and 150mm) will have a rocketised 4S 200mm readied soon too... Also planning on building a Bansai from HK using salvaged mini quad parts (no need for fancy OneShot and PPM/SBUS on a wing ;)). Bring it weather!

I'm in the same boat. Quad's all cleaned and ready to roll - just waiting for the weather to improve.

I looked at the Banzai but went for the Wing Wing Z-84 instead - not quite as acrobatic but the electronics are all enclosed. I *might* slip a naze32 on it if I get bored over the summer and FPV it too.

I used an old sunnysky 2300kv motor, an old ESC with a BEC and whatever props I have left lying around. Should be plenty quick enough once I actually get to maiden it!!

Has anyone here wired a Micro HDMI camera out to an Immersion transmitter? If so did you wire it manually (and if so which wires from the HDMI to what?) or buy a pre-made connector?

What transmitter? I wasn't aware that Immersion did an HDMI transmitter.

Wow some of these racing vids are nuts. The one in the stadium is very impressive. Super tuned and very good skills

Can't wait for the weather to get better, I need to try and find a location where I can use natural surroundings as some type of circuit rather than the boring practise field I use

Buying a drone!

I'm thinking of buying a drone, looking at something with a 4K camera so what would you recommend. I have flown RC helicopters for 30 years so expect these to be easy to fly in comparison. The DJi phantom seems to be the most popular.

Do you really need 4k? The DJI Phantom 3 Advanced is going for around £699 at most places now with a 2.7k camera. The Pro has a 4k camera and is around £949 - not sure the camera is worth an extra £250.

As and when you do buy one, please do use it sensibly and read up on the CAA regulations. Too many idiots abusing them which will ruin it for the rest of us that use them sensibly.

So, after losing my quad the other day (and spending three hours going up and down a boggy field) is anyone aware of a cheap, simple, light and easy to use GPS locator? Something that preferably runs on its own battery and doesn't affect the flight much.?

You see I think completely the opposite. I think the stadium one is dull and shows little skill compared to something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYA8_NZHgXI
