Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

What's the parrot bebop with skycontroller like? Seems a good price at £350 compared to what it used to be.

Never had a quadcopter or researched them.

I'd buy a cheap one first, to at least fly about and we if you enjoy it.....no point spending £350 on something you don't even know of you'll like!

Found another awesome place nearby to me tonight to fly.....will defo be back and fly a bit further out next time, was just testing this evening:-

I purchased a Hubsan X4 for £30 and had a play with that first. Absolutely loved it and then went for the DJI Phantom 3 Standard.

The Hubsan is a tiny quadcopter which you can use indoors or outdoors and it even has a video camera built in, although it's not brilliant but then you can't really complain at thirty quid. It takes some getting used to the controls though and is very different to fly to the Phantom, but it's a dirt cheap starting point.

I'm buying a Phantom 3 professional today, Wheres the best and cheapest place to get it from? A spare battery wouldn't go amiss either so a bundle would be ok tool.

You can buy bundles direct from DJI. I bought mine from Amazon though as I think their returns service is really good - I did have to send my original one back as it kept losing signal at short range!

Make sure you buy an original DJI battery as the compatible ones are supposedly a bit dodgy!

Trying to find a decent priced EZUHF RX. I got a deal on the FB Groups for a JR Module and Diamond SRH-771 antenna. I build an extended F450 frame, now 550. Flys for over an hour so wanting to go long distance.

Flying beyond unaided line of sight is illegal.

Now that's out of the way. No, not seen anything. Why not just pay full price? £50 is pretty standard for any full featured Rx from Futaba/JR/Jeti/Spektrum/Multiplex/Graupner.

Just rebuilt my 250 racer with a Kiss FC, Kiss 24A race ESC's and Cobra motors, Just used a preset for the ZMR250 and wow the difference is unreal. Going to try and get out today so will post pics and a vid if my FPV gear still works. While rebuilding I noticed the OSD had burnt through the clear plastic heatshrink and shorted on the frame :(

You're a lucky man. My experience with the KissFC wasn't so good. I never could get it to fly right. Then my USB came off it.

What were you running before the Kiss setup?

Betaflight V3 will work on the Kiss, so when that's out I'll give it another shot as I'll be able to switch between betaflight/kiss firmwares.

I haven't been out and flew it properly yet, just a quick test in the yard as its too windy today although I have read some horrible things about it since I bought it but overall it seems so much more locked in without even tuning it with a lot more thrust. It did just wander and yaw a lot though when I first ever tried it and even in the app the model would just constantly yaw, pitch and roll on its own no matter how much I tried to trim it up. I realised that my Turnigy 9x radio just wouldn't center the sticks with enough accuracy for the kiss FC so for now I have had to mess with the rates so there's almost no control when the sticks are centered until my Taranis arrives. I never had that problem with the naze32 as you could set a deadzone on the FC for the sticks which can't be done on the kiss FC.

Epoxy on the USB stops it coming off, Shouldn't have to do it for what it costs though.

Previously I had a Naze32 with betaflight with Afro slim 20a ESC's and Turnigy Multistar elite 2300kv motors. I have a spare frame so I'm going to reuse everything and either use it as a beater, Give it to my lad or just sell it to recoup some money that I spent on the P3P and taranis.

If your 9X is running open Tx, you can add your own deadband by applying a custom curve to the rudder channel. Just make a little flat spot at centre stick.

When my USB came off I was at the field with the laptop, and i'd just plugged it in and off it popped. I have since soldered on some pins the to UART so I can use an FTDI to program and flash it.

It's just on the default firmware, never even looked to see if i could upgrade it.

I am going to just epoxy mine just incase, just got to remember to grab it from work :D
