Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

No worries, since I bought mine I've been avidly reading up on them on various forums. 'Phantom Pilots' is a good place for info. Be wary of updating your aircrafts firmware and your Android devices app.....loads of folk have reported issues with the latest updates. And yeah, you can get Dronezones for Android too. Also worth signing up to Healthydrones website and downloading the app and an app called HDSync. You can directly upload your flight data and see all sorts of info on stuff, it's awesome! :D

Yeah I had a total nightmare updating my DJI app and the P3 firmware when I first powered it on, think it took about four hours of fiddling about until I managed to get it all installed successfully.

I'll check out the other sites and apps - thanks so much. :)

Really itching to get out with it!

Batteries - one of the few gripes I have with owning a Phantom - the price of the batteries is a bit over the top. And you don't really have much choice since aftermarket ones rarely work properly, if at all. Ideally I'd like three batteries but at around the £120 mark, I'm going to have to just stick with one for now until my 'sneaky fund's can take the hit! :D

Also, @TheStarkFactor, there's another good FB page called DJI Owners Scotland, worth checking that out too.

Thanks again Draeger, I'll check that group out as well.

Off out for dinner now, but will check out the sites, apps and groups when I come back. :)

Don't think I'd want an aftermarket one in a phantom/inspire though...you can be a bit more brutal with them also as they're 'smart' batteries I think?

I've read so many horror stories with lipos I'm treating them like reactor cores or something :p

so, can anybody give any feedback on a yuneec typhoon H?

£1090 in my local hobbie place, quite tempted.

I've been looking at them as well but I think you can get them for around 900 tho

The real sense version looks promising but not yet released yet

After splashing out on a 680pro build the other half would go ape if I bought 1 just yet

Hi all,

I have just recently bought myself a DJI Phantom 3 standard and I'm wondering what the cheapest options are for getting a tablet for the FPV. I currently use my Nexus 6 phone but the screens a bit too small.

I have a Nexus 7 (1st gen) tablet but as far as I can see from looking online it wont be powerful enough to run DJI Go properly!!! Not sure if rooting it and putting custom Android OS will make it better?

Any advice pleeeease?

I would invest in a iPad Mini 2, tried a few tablets and found them not great.

I agree. Get any iPad from the Mini 2 onwards.
The best tablet for DJI Go that's Android is the Nvidia Shield Tablet which I have and that is still slower and more jerky than my iPad Mini 2.

Agree on the ipad mini. You can pick them up REALLY cheap.

I use a 9.7" ipad pro and it is spectacular but you really don't need much more than an iphone 6 size if I am honest.

Sure it will. It extends if you press the button on the side of the clamp. It will take a full-size iPad.

Just had a look, there is no button on the side of the clamp, just the clamp itself and the grip you squeeze to expand it.

At maximum extension I can't fit my Z3 tablet in there - am I missing something?

Thanks, been looking online for iPad Mini 2's and I can't find any below £200!!! Was hoping not to have to shell out too much more just yet as I have already spent about £650 on my new hobby, including the Quadcopter, High Gain Antenna, Extra Battery, Carry Case and now (after reading this thread) £20 on the Litchi app.
How do you actually fit a table on a P3 standard?
Yeah, I think the P3 standard might be different and only accommodate a phone, as, no pun intended, standard.
The P3 Standard only holds a phone by default but you can get a tablet holder which you attach yourself from Amazon.

Pick up a 2nd hand full ipad then like an ipad air 2. Cheaper than a mini and bigger :)
