Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Sounds about right for a P1 with gimbal and camera. I don't think I ever got more than 10 mins out of that setup.
Batteries haven't changed much other than the advent of the HV stuff that goes to 4.5V per cell. Not sure the P1 can take those though.

I'm happy to get 4 minutes out of mine. It is a screaming 160mm on 850mah 4s lipos though :p

Had a chance to take my new Rodeo 150 out, very very impressed for a 2s RTF machine

Hah :D

Yeah my 250 on 1500mah (3s) batts is 4mins or so, hence why I have like 6

Just received two 1300mah 4s batts, so looking for D to using those :D

OK thanks for replying.

Tme to upgrade to P3 then :)

Here is few movies I've made, not had much time the last few months to get out and use my drone. :)

All shot on the DJI Phantom 3 Pro 4K

What's the difference between a multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter and a drone?

multi-rotor / multicopter = same thing
Quadcopter = multi-rotor with 4 rotors

Drone = Someone one day used it to refer to multi-rotors instead of flying death machines and it stuck. Same as some kid at school who you gave a nickname because he/she did something ONCE and they're stuck with it for life.

Done a wee quick flight this afternoon between rain showers. Still getting used to this bird, she does fly very well indeed. Getting to grips with it now so hopefully some more interesting videos to come....I'm thinking Glencoe might be the next place to try flying at.

Can any central Scotland or Glasgow based folk recommend some good places to fly, for a beginner?

Need to get my Phantom 3 in the air and my garden and surrounding area isn't great for flying.

Are you on Facebook? If so, look for the Scottish Multirotors page and sign up there. Some lots of good info on flying locations there. You could also get the Dronezones app which although in its early days just now, still has a good few locations on it. It's user based so what you do is add your own locations to the map and rate them for flying. Pretty handy.

But what I've really been doing is just having a browse on Google maps around my local area and then taking a drive out to some areas which look like good places to fly. Another thing you could do is just search Youtube for videos of people flying around your area for ideas too, many folk add the location to their video footage.

One place over in the West that I haven't got around to flying at is Chatelherault country park. There is a huge open area directly in fron of the old country house which looks ideal for flying, although you would obviously need to take care if there were people moving around below anywhere nearby:-

Thanks Draeger, all excellent advice!

I will sign up to the Scottish Multirotors Facebook page soon.

I'm on Android, so I'll also check out whether I can download the app.

No worries, since I bought mine I've been avidly reading up on them on various forums. 'Phantom Pilots' is a good place for info. Be wary of updating your aircrafts firmware and your Android devices app.....loads of folk have reported issues with the latest updates. And yeah, you can get Dronezones for Android too. Also worth signing up to Healthydrones website and downloading the app and an app called HDSync. You can directly upload your flight data and see all sorts of info on stuff, it's awesome! :D
