Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

What voltages is everyone landing at im using 16000 mah 4s multistar batterys on a hex and usually landing at 3.7 volt per cell when under load but after its rested it shoots up to around 3.93 per cell

3.7 is fine, anything from 3.5v when you bring it in really to be safe.

My 1300mah 4s batteries end up around ,3.7v after resting usually, sometimes more....that 2mins of flying at full throttle and flipping mind :p

I got two batteries with P3 for the record. Can see myself buying another one though!

I manned up and turn off beginner mode off today, ventured a bit higher this time around although not far out of my eyesight!

Have you got the props on correctly, corresponding to the 'A' and 'B'
props/motors?:-

thanks, turned out it's incredibly sensitive to wear the battery is. getting slightly better at flying. order 5x batteries and a multi charger. which will help out, especially as the batteries are 500mah rather than teh current 300mah. also got half a doze sets of propellers on its way as already killed the first set.

just need to mod the controller to a rechargeable 6v battery. as that eats through the expensive AAs.

Probably the screen that's attached (if I'm thinking on the correct quad)

Defo have spare props! And good call on getting g.more batteries :)

I'm having no joy flashing my esc's on my racer atm, everything on the net isn't working and I'm trying to avoid soldering anything extra to the esc's atm.... :(

Yep will be watching that - thanks for the reminder / link!

Can't hurt for DJI to have more competition though as you say - I'd love an Inspire 1 or even their massive Matrice 600 but they're so expensive!

looks super impressive from initial details. (no mention of battery life/charging/replaceable batteries yet)

Well priced as well!

The company also announced the GoPro Karma, a compact and foldable drone that fits inside of a backpack. The drone includes a flip-up touchscreen controller, which the company said makes it easy to fly for beginners or experienced pilots. The Karma's stabilizers can also be removed and mounted on a bike, helmet or car, or inserted into the included "Karma Grip" handheld stabilizer.

The GoPro Karma drone will be available on October 23 for $799. The drone is compatible with both Hero 4 and Hero 5 products. GoPro will be offering the drone as part of a bundle with either the Hero 5 Black or Hero 5 Session. The Karma and Session bundle will retail for $999, while the Karma and Black bundle will cost $1099.

The removable gimbal sound superb - packable etc.

it did look impressive, just a shae all the good ones are so big and difficult to hike anywhere with them.

someone should do a high end foldable 200-250mm drone for aerial photography.

Not convinced yet. The removable gimbal is useful, ish, but only if it's good in itself. But then we've got two Osmo's anyway which perform well.

The proprietary screen on the controller looks terrible too.

Having the camera out to the front makes sense for avoiding props in footage but isn't the whole point to have the camera at the centre of gravity so that it has greater stability and less work to do to counteract the drone's movement?

Nout stopping you sticking GPS and altitude hold on a 250 frame really...and a gimbal for the camera. The problem will be getting everything else to fit onto the frame and be able to lift it all

I dunno, my P3 packed away in my NXET rucksack isn't heavy or hugely bulky. That said, I'm interested to read the first reviews of these new UAV's. Seems the main players are all gunning for each other with the Karma, the Yuneec Breeze and DJI's answer to GoPro - the Mavic:-

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessss!!! Finally got my ESCs to flash, that was a right faff....

Needed to use the Arduino nano:

Bodge a cable together with three pins on the end, then touch those pins onto the three pads underneath the ESCs:

Don't want to be doing that again any time soon :D

The GP5 footage does look quite nice though, and the flexibility to use the camera for other things will resonate with their target audience.

On COG, won't the battery at the back of the Karma balance it out?

This is what I'm looking at there's a few 200-300 folding frames, I just don't know enough about varoiuse components atm.

Went out with the 250 yesterday and got some great video just to find out when I got home the lens wasn't seated correctly on my camera and everything was out of focus

Heres a P3P shot though.
