Links work fine for me. All standard links (no funny me specific information) suggestions?

I was just thinking cable and connectors really but looking at it I think you are probably right
What size cable should I be using for connections to the motors and between the battery and ESC?
 
I use 14 awg/16 awg. Turnigy silicone wire. Which is really nice quality.
I use a power distribution board, then an xt60 connector onto the battery.
It's so much cleaner than making a y- connector up. Also can easily add LEDs etc.

Use moongel for dampening on the fc, it's worth its weight in gold.

how come you made it out of wood?

is it balsa wood? cause i imagine that's very heavy could you get some thin alclad sheet? give it some bends/stamp in a cross like the side of a fuel can would make the plate very thin and strong....actually i wonder if you could just cut the side out of an old Jerry can?

I will go for the 16awg I think
No need for a power distribution bored as I am using the 4-in-1 ESC so there is only that which needs power directly from the battery

Unfortunately the FC I will be using has components on both sides so it has to be mounted through the bolt holes
Plan is to use nylon bolts with some soft silicone tube on both sides of the board to reduce vibration but I appreciate that it isn't ideal

I have probably missed things off this so please chip in :confused:

One thing I am aware I haven't included on this list are props. This is because I have no idea what size and pitch to go for so I would appreciate your help with this.

I am a competent solderer and will be getting all the wire and connectors from my local Maplin as I think ill struggle to predict everything I will need.

All in this is going to cot me about £350 which I think is fairly reasonable

I have the same frame and motors and reciever,running 9x5 graupner props on 4s batteries,she runs like a rocket.

If you are going to use 3s i would suggest 10x5 props or something similar.

Also using the same orange reciever.

Why bother with the qbrain,3 hobbyking blue esc's flashed with simonk firmware would be better and lighter.

What flight controller board are you using?,i would suggest a kk 2.1.

You will need some 16 awg wire,gold bullet connectors 3.5mm,power distribution board (if using seperate esc or wire harness),xt60 or deans connectors
for the battery connection

You will also need some servo leads mail - mail to connect the flight controller to the orange reciever.

Ordered a spare battery, wrench and protective prop cover for my hubsan x4. Still not flown outdoors but can keep it pretty stable now inside
 
Love the X4 now fully adapt at flying (And crashing) it .
Got a little shopping list now!
5x bigger mAH batteries
charging cable
prop protectors
some sort of camera
more props! lots of them. (Lost 1 on the first day :D )
 
Looks like a solid set of components to me Monster, don't forgot you'll need a 12V input for that charger.
Grab a load of 1045 plastic props from HK, should cover you off for a while as you get familiar with flying it. I'd also second the comments of grabbing the turnigy cable, it's good stuff - nice and flexible.


One for the FPV'ers - I've been given some cash for Christmas and told I'm not allowed to spend it on anything other than my Multirotor hobby! Would £250 be ok to get me started or am I going to end up with bottom end gear that I'll regret going forward? I believe I'd be needing to replace the transmitter module in my Turnigy 9x from the stock one to get good enough range on it too.

If I am going to struggle I'll probably just look to upgrade my current quad into something that has some better quality components (namely the motors/props) to ready it for FPV down the line and build a second really cheap quad for chucking about / letting other people try :p

Or you could go the cheap route with the £30 DIY goggles and a cheap video transmitter/reciever.
 
Hadn't expected I'd be able to get any Fatshark stuff at that budget, will have a good look into that :) Thanks! I do like the idea of some sleek (ish) goggles over a bulky DIY thing, think that if I went DIY I'd just go with a screen rather than trying to make them into goggles.

Cool :) I've crashed mine loads and in need of some new blades, do you know if the blades are the same for the V1 and V2? Where did you order from? I ordered a blade protector from wireless madness on eBay, but ordered the wrong crash pack (V1)!
 
The props are probably the same, it's the shafts on the motors that are longer on the v1 Hubsan. I've got one of the v1 motors on mine.
I'd be surprised if you couldn't just interchange most of the bits between the first 2 versions of the X4.
 
Doesnt a bigger mah battery = bigger size / weight?

Surely if they could put a 400 mah battery in there that gave better runtime they would?

They use a 240 one for the x4 i think and im sure i saw a 'humming bird' one that was 400mah - but it looked bigger. Twice as powerful but twice the weight?

I just went with the official hubsam battery and prop guard
