Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Blimey - "5 to 7 minute flying time" doesn't seem very long at all!!! :D

Managed to take off and figure out how to tinker with the trim so it (pretty much) hovers in place with very little input into the controls! (in fact it seems a lot more stable than I was expecting it to be!!)

Looking forward to giving this a proper test flight tonight but so far I'm loving it!

Brilliant. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm quite fond of just poottling around the house with mine when it's too windy or dark or raining!

It will remember - but the trim might change, especially if the battery isn't in exactly the same location. It does have a habit of moving around if you crash into anything. Always worth checking when you pick it up.

And that's why there's growing demands for 'regulation' of drones. Compared to model helicopters, and especially to collective pitch ones, quads are very stable indeed. Almost anybody can fly one, to a basic level, with minimal effort and no training. Of course, turn off computer assist and enable full rates and they can still be a handful. ;)

Yeah, I clicked the right stick to go into "madness mode" as I like to call it and promptly flew the little beastie into the window! :D

It will be a while before I try that again!

Yeah, madness mode for outside only I think unless you have a lot of space inside!

We already have a regulations were limited in areas we were allowed to fly soon the US will enforce registration on each multirotor with a few exemptions I'm guessing anything with a camera and over a certain weight and I'm guessing the same rule will be here soon

Just got myself a Phantom 2 vision + v3

Lots of reading done, hoping the weather improves a bit and I'll take it outside for a test! Exciting times!

Nice Gandhi ^^^ Some super quick flying and loved the low fly skimming!!! Nice one.

Nervous time now - heading into the street to test the Phantom! Fingers cross back soon in one piece!

to be honest, not sure the street is the best place for a first flight? Could be a bit controversial if it all goes a bit turbo?

Please read the rules on where you can fly before you fly.
The street (unless 50M away from any building or object not under your control) is not a good place.

I know I know - it was simply to check the thing works 10 ft off the deck as I need to pay the chap I bought it from the funds (was a half up front/half on arrival deal). It was 90 seconds flight time - I've got other quads so understand the rules/regs etc.

I'm certainly not going to go mad in the street, I needed to confirm it all worked properly before paying out. Thanks

Thats a joke. You can the dji pro directly from caseking germany by clicking on the link from ocuk's website (ocuk owners) shipped for £980 delivered. And there won't be any duty or extra vat to pay.

https://www.caseking.de/en/dji-phantom-3-professional-quadrocopter-tydd-002.html

The pro with free delivery should be £966 max on ocuk website.

So thats a £219.99 mark up for the pleasure of having it shipped from the uk????

Out this morning for 30 mins or so with phantom - good fun, very easy to use in basic GPS mode - can see a lot of fun with this going forward.

One quick snap from this morning -
