I am thinking actually that the limitations do outweigh the plus points of being able to mount lots of different cameras with the Ronin M vs a Zenmuse - not sure what to do now haha!
I've heard too that the range on the controller is limited which is annoying and yeah the built in battery (another proprietary one at that thanks DJI) is another big weight to consider!
I've seen a few videos from a guy in Russia who's getting stunning 4K results from a modded A7S II in the A7 Zenmuse gimbal - seems to be working perfectly for him! Tempting ...

. Or will be. We shoot all our ground-based work on the A7S II and are pausing with the A7 Zenmuse gimbal in our basket waiting for a) a job specifically requiring it to come up (currently a bit out of season for aerial work) or b) them to release an A7 II gimbal.
. Lovely craft, battery life is crazy coming from the S1000. ActiveTrack works really really well as well. Bit weird not actually flying it though.
