I'm a great advocate of Dan Brown for that. It may appear shallow and too descriptive but the success of his books is from people being unable to put them down.
i've decided after readin this thread, im gonna try and read a book rather than see the film and see how it goes ... Something new to try lol

What's up with that? I am 1/3rd of the way and I am still reading mostly about rich 13yr old girls wanting to get married to older men. I was expecting some royalty but not that much, where's all the blood and guts?
yeah but he does this with cheap literary tricks, like having two paralel stories, one boring the other better and cutting one off just as something exciting is happening. meaning you have to speed read through the next chapter to get back to the exciting bit... i think he is crap but hey its all subjective.
