MX5 Owners in here....bring your curling tongs

You might struggle to fit very well Joe, i'm 6ft2ish and my head touches the ceiling, and sticks out the top when the roof is down!

If you can look out for a Mk1 with cloth seats as these sit lower in the car which supposedly work a little better for tall folk.

I had initially thought of removing my heated leather seats as i was sat high up but to be honest i've been on a few long drives and i've been fairly comfy and the mk2.5 seats are a great shape imo.

I think I want one.

Question im 6ft 6 will I look a plum?

Probably but I'm on my second now and as long as you remove the foam from the seats it's fine.

Speaking of which, here is the replacement for the one I crashed a few posts up:

It's a 93 S-Ltd with the original gold wheels that I took off. Jobs to do involve fitting my HSD coilovers as it's like a tractor at the moment, get someone to give the paint a good machine polish (any takers, seriously?), get a new roof and get a front lip. Oh and I do have the centre caps for the alloys, I just have them at my "storage" facility.

^what happened to the green one?

Too busy applying the lippy to see what was ahead of you? :p

I would like to scratch the MX-5 itch, but at 6"4' I think I'd feel a right twonk driving it (even more so than an EP3 when engaging vtec, yo).

I'm just over 6" and have plenty of headroom with the roof up in my mk1 with cloth seats.

Only thing that would make my one a little more comfortable would be a smaller steering wheel but as I have an airbag I'm not in a huge rush to go down that route.

At 6"2 or above I'd definitely go for a sit in one before thinking about it any further.

I've been offered a drive of a mk1 on Meister R's which I wasn't able to take up at the time but will do at some point. I'm hoping it won't be one of those expensive drives that end in a "...must have!"

That said, I'm not in a huge rush to change my suspension as I love the handling, especially as I've now got the confidence to get the back end loose :p

I seem to have a squeak or chirruping coming from, I think, the front offside of my wife's Mk3.5 MX5 which I noticed today with the roof down. Anyone got any ideas what this might be, I am thinking most likely a bush or something but wondered if such a thing is a known/common issue.

Does your car go into Bristol in the mornings?

I think this forum is mostly based on mk1/2 cars because of age, try PH mx5 section or Nutz/OC?

I had a slimier squeak develop from the rear drivers side yesterday , no idea what it is. If you find out let me know.

I would take a look at the ARB drop links. When they begin to fail they usually make more of a knocking noise than a squeak, but they are a notorious weak point on the MK3 and maybe the 3.5. Cheap and fairly easy to replace though so it would be my first point of investigation.

No pictures of mine yet, its currently in many pieces...
Got it at the start of the year from a breaker, G reg 1.6 Eunos with the worst paint ever. Bit of welding required on drivers side rear sill, then it flew through the MOT. :)

Always wanted something to learn a bit of maintenance on, this is ideal. Currently cleaning up the bottom of the car to underseal, seems like it will take forever to do properly!
