My 1st ever full build log - likely to need your support!

epu6 engine is a power saving program and turbov is an overclocking program. both safe to uninstall if you dont want to use them

latest BIOS version for the P6T is 1004.ROM

download it from the asus website and put it on a usb flash drive

in the bios go to tools and and theres an option in there to run ez flash, run it and select the flash drive you have the new bios on and run. simple as that

Much appreciated, thanks. I'm starting to feel like a bit of an idiot now, is a flash drive different from a usb memory stick? Also, could I do this using a portable usb hard drive.

Have now updated the bios, used AsusUpdate which was painless.

All this is a huge learning curve for me and I can see it giving me a heart attack before long. I'm developing an unhealthy obsession with temps and I'm beginning to wonder if building my own was such a good idea!

It'll all pay off in the long run & you'll be glad you stuck with it.

It may simply be that the cooler is actually a lot worse than most decent air coolers.
I've come across one of the 1st reviews...

I hope the reviewer was biased & has fudged the figures (doubt it) or the unit was faulty.
Because I was hoping for much better than this, damn :(

Going by the above it looks like the H50 still creams the Eco, how sad if competition is dead.

Thanks for posting this jalyst, it reassures me that it must be working and that I have fitted it correctly. I suppose I'll just have to accept that I've purchased a naff product and will certainly do more research in the future before falling to marketing gimmicks.

I will be replacing this as soon as I can and might go with the H50 as I don't want the noise that comes with air.

I have a Cool-It Eco for sale if anyone is interested lol.

Back to the rest of my build, what do you think about my attempt to tidy the cables? I was pretty pleased with myself tbh although I appreciate some of you may spot room for improvement.

Also, can someone confirm that I do not have to have the psu fan plugged in to the mobo?

There is a chance they got a dodgy sample...

But it doesn't say much for their quality control...
Particularly considering the QC issues they had with the Domino, & considering you're possibly having probs now too.

I'm going to wait for a few more reviews before I pass absolute judgement.
But yeah, in the meantime I'm getting the LCLC 240mm or NQ-3590.

If they're not available locally, then I'll get the H50...

I don't think I've ever had to bother with the PSU fan being plugged in...
It should already be hooked-up in the PSU itself and come on when the PSU's on.

Cheers

Your rig looks awesome. very nicely done. Good to see you have the same gfx card as me, had it a couple of days and definately been a damn good purchase. keep us posted on your progress.

I have a plan for the Cool-It Eco, it is going in to my daughters PC. I'm interested to see how it fairs with a dual core E6400.

What should I be looking at If I want cool and quiet for my own rig, will a H50 do the trick?

Megahelems with a decent quiet fan will be just as loud as a H50 with the same fan and theres much less to go wrong with it.

Yeah if it's your 1st build I wouldn't be mucking around with wc...
It's debatable whether the best LCLC systems are better value than the the top-end air coolers.

In most situations they're probably not....
If you don't intend to do crazy high OC's then Megahalem will serve you well.

Hi Guys, this is Barry here w/ CoolIT. Just based on those stock clock, temperatures something is clearly wrong and I suggest you return your ECO on RMA Yozz.

We've got a 920 here so I will set it up w/ an ECO on it and report the temps back here later.

We designed the ECO to beat the H50 and that is exactly what it does. Not sure what is going on atm but we will get to the bottom of it and report back.

To all that were helping assist in this thread. Greatly appreciated.

quick update

Quick heads up guys, a random ECO pulled out of the last shipment we got is keep an i7 920 is in the low 50's at full load, stock speeds.

They are doing runs at 3.8, 4.0 and possibly higher now.. will keep you posted.

Can you give us a little more detail, preferably with screenies?
Prolly best to post here, so the focus of Yozz's thread doesn't shift entirely to CPU coolers.

Thanks.
