My first accident...

Sorry to hear glad your ok.

But... There's no way the front end just went at 50mph. I spank it down manc way at 60-70mph in the wet with rubbish front tyres in a Honda accord estate regularly without ever having an issue :p

Right,

Have read all the replies but there's too many to quote so I'll just answer a few things that stand out.

I was wide awake and not tired at all so didnt nod off, the mot was done on the car last week and there wasn't a single advisory on the car and the geo/tracking was perfect aswell as I had that done. The car was completely standard bar the black alloys and m5 ring sticker on the back, the rear two tyres were mismatched, one was a pirelli and the other was maxxis but both had over 5mm thread. The front tyres were matched, Bridgestone Potenza's RE040 with over 4mm thread on each.

For anyone saying I'm an unexperienced driver or was hooning around, that is incorrect, I have been driving for over 5 years, have been trading for 3 years and have driven and experienced a vast majority of cars so I would like to think I'm quite capable. I've had two type r's before this aswell.

For anyone jumping to conclusion and doubting me, spoke to the police today properly and have been informed that there was oil on the road where my car lost control. Due to rain it wasn't noticeable at that time. :/

Oil could do it. I have spun 360 on a bright sunday morning, I had taken my coat off because I was hot. Ice on the road at 10am still:confused: - trees casting a shadow across the road where a stream runs onto it following a very deep frost the previous night. Unbelievable but it happened, thankfully a very thick hedge caught me perfectly so almost no damage and it was NSL with fair bit of traffic coming the other way
In my case the car behind or in front didnt spin, maybe I was closer to the kerb and I was certainly closer to the limit. It never happened before or since on that road and I drove it everyday for more then a year

The crash was down to either oil on the road....

This was my first point. It had to be one of the three reasons I gave. Oil is the main cause of these things.

Ive spun on a roundabout due to an oil spill and no one reporting it.

Glad to hear you're OK.

My brother's Micra (my old car :p) refused to turn the other day and went into a kerb, requiring a new wheel. He said he was going slowly and that even on full lock the car kept going forward.

A newly resurfaced road will probaly be slowly oozing out oil. If that is what happened then I bet you didn't half poo your pants when it happened as it was unexpected!

Very lucky but I wasn't as lucky as you :(

Worth noting you can claim from the MIB if the oil is the proven cause of accident.

I may go down this route, Thanks :)

Saw ring sticker, and became very skeptical! :p

Good job you don't have any major injuries, lucky as you say.

2 weeks of ownership and gone, what will you replace it with?

The ring sticker was on the car when I bought it, I had two type r's before this aswell. Not sure what to replace it with yet as I do have a few cars in stock that I can drive.

My mates offered me his old 1993 EG Civic with a B18C4 conversion with a S4C ek9 Type R gearbox with LSD. Quite tempted as I love old school honda's. The car and engine bay is immaculate.

Some Micras have a recall notice on a steering fault, phone up any dealer for a free check and you should have a letter about it ?

Oil could be diesel, usually from HGV, Vans, brimming tanks and overspilling on corners. Have followed a similar vehicle late at night and seen the line of diesel spreading on the road. Lethal for motorcycles.

I had a bit of a misshap yesterday. Put my foot down and ended up doing down the motorway like a crab. Must have been oil and not the 300+ torque.

It could be, but either there were no other cars between the OP's incident and any Police signs being put up or it was special oil that only affected Civics.
