My Galaxy S2 broken? (with photo's now)

What's ironic about this, is that you could have backed up your EFS if your phone had been rooted. Ironic because the whole process of rooting invalidates your warranty but in this case, would have saved you the hassle.

I actually took my GS2 to a repair centre after it developed a screen fault and was told that they'll check for moisture damage and call me if they found any, but they never called and the phone was repaired. What's strange about that is the fact I took the phone with me on all the water rides at Thorpe park.

The policy is that the phone is out-of warranty completely due to moisture on the usb port.

This means they cannot do the repair at all (even if i paid for it apparently) but if I buy a new USB port and they fit it, my warranty will then be back in tack and they can fix the issue with the phone that I had.

So, a totally unneeded repair (there is nothing wrong with that port that I can tell from the photo), and they invalidate your warranty. What's the repair company?

So they are trying to put you over a barrel, saying that if you don't have the repair done any other fault with the phone, and your screwed (because the warranty is out).

If this is the case, they need to start putting covers on micro usb ports, because what they have pictured there is an absolute joke.

With service like this I will be avoiding any Samsung phones going forward.

Ace Modder, I hope you get your just deserves from Samsung and they offer to change their mind and sort this mess out for you.

I've just gone through something very similar with my S2 and Intercity.

The GPS chip wouldn't turn off and as result the battery life was non existent, I got sent a replacement without any hassle but it had a massive scratch on the screen when I received it.

I then raised another RMA and after receiving it back they wanted £81 + VAT for the repair. After some arguments and a lot of communication they finally agreed to send me a new one which I received last Friday but its left a very sour taste in mouth and they basically accused my of trying to defraud them.

I will not touch another Samsung again, sure they make great phones but they provide nothing short of cowboy customer service.

The total amount of time from start to finish was nearly 8 weeks which was simply not good enough.

is this service center a 3rd party that samsung use or is it samsung themselves?

I really cant believe that they are being like this but then i have never had the misfortune of having one of my samsung products go wrong.

this kind of treatment is certainly not something i would expect from a high reputation manufacturer such as samsung.

This isn't a moisture strip, phone up Samsung CS and say the repair company are currently trying to extort money for water ingress without proof and and you want it escalated. I think they are trying to show it as tarnish to the port but it's hard to tell because that picture is 100% crap. Does the picture have any EXIF data in it? Looks like it was shot with a fixed lens camera considering the focus.

I use my S2 in the shower too as I like to stand under a hot shower playing wordfeud/wwf to pass the time.

Maybe it's a risk, maybe it's a waste of water but...1st world problems.

Point is, I've never noticed any moisture issues on any phone to date and a shower is pretty damn heavy with moisture!

I think they're just trying to escape out of a repair (or the firm they are using for the repair service anyway as they usually have 3rd parties handling warranty repairs).

Hi
My gs2 has turned up today looking......

Mint went in for dodgy buttons capacitive and home and they seem to have replaced the whole front!

So they can repair them properly.

John

seems like they need to use whoever SE , blackberry , motorola etc used to for repairs

they used to send me back refurb phones (looked new to me) as soon as my phone got to them. i had an x10 replaced even when the usb port wasn't working because i stood on the cable while it was charging :o

id email samsung again telling them how you had your iPod replaced without such hassle. troll them for trolling you. rubbish customer service to flat out accuse you of water damaging it and trying to sneak a repair

At best the photo they sent you could show that there is oxidisation of the pins, but this is most likely due to wear through the plating to the copper after many cycles of plugging/unplugging the charger. At worst (and most likely from what you've said they've said), it's a load of bull nd they're a bunch of chancers.

Terrible CS.
