So, it's definitely supposed to work above 800MHz (mine is at 920MHz) with VDIMM @ 2.27-2.29V? I'm still getting failures :(

Are you sure thats a memory problem and not a CPU problem? Try running memtest86+ test 5 and see what that shows.

Well some sticks are as they are passing £200 more expensive mem

Do you have them?

I'm real pleased that you will all be so happy when you buy them so go ahead, then you to can join the "I wish I'd Brigade" honestly you lot deserve what you get, Gibbo posts great I post my results which I thought might show people that they aint all the same.

So at least we all know that when you all buy yours you'll be delighted that they run at stock speed and if they arrive DOA you won't be the slightest dissapointed. If you like you can even buy mine they are guaranteed to work at stock settings.

If they arrive DOA, then RMA them, all RAM makers have a failure rate, even Corsair.

And as with all hardware overclocks "Your Milage May Vary", yes you may have got bad modules, or maybe your system is holding you back, we get your point.

Having problems doing it really. Haven't got a floppy drive. Tried to create bootable disk with Nero with memtest on it. On boot it had some other crap on it instead. I tried the exe with my USB pen drive but it says invalid system disk.

Any other memory test other than memtest and prime that I could try?
Or is there any way to solve this.

You can either go to http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and use their iso, I find that really good, has loads of great apps on. Has guides on burning the iso too:

You could also use memtest for windows:

http://hcidesign.com/memtest/

That can be sensitive to memory errors too.

Well could'nt get it to go with CAS 4-4-4-12.....BUT with CAS 4-8-8-23...this is what i got. :D

Those latencies are very slack, why don't you see how far it goes with 5-5-5-15 as you may find thats quicker and goes further or similar. :)

No errors after test 6. That's a good thing. Means I need to do something more, or I've hit a wall?

The Gigabyte and Asus boards seems like absolute nightmares with memory. We've had loads of complaints regarding G.Skill and Gigabyte boards not working yet some people have no issues.

It seems that the different BIOS's and batches of the Asus/Gigabyte motherboards really are making quite huge difference to clocking levels and how stable things work.

I'm on the latest final version (F3). I feel there's something I haven't done, but I'm not sure what that is lol.

I don't want to increase the VDIMM past 2.3V in case I kill them :|

Nope don't exceed 2.3v unless your willing to place a fan blowing over them. However if you go beyond 2.3v do be prepared that they might die.

In the Intel board 2.2v was the maximum possible from the BIOS if I could have gone higher I would though the Intel boards tops out at 460-470FSB unfortunately.

We really could do with a decent easy 600FSB mainboard coming out that is compatible with all the memory out there too.

That's the best i can do for now Gibbo....with the volts i am willing to give it as that's only with a zalman 9500 and reaching 50c idle in core temp with 1.54vcore...but at least i know my cpu and ram are willing....better board + cooling who knows :)

I'm glad I didn't pay my hard earned cash for these...
Ive tried a kit and they refuse to boot up at defauts on my DS3 with any BIOS

Even after setting up the BIOS with a stick of Kingston PC8500 (which boots no probs and is very flexible with timings) to get the Geil to POST, strangely enough, testing with super pi, cinebench, 3dmark and a couple of other benchmarks showed the Geil to be slightly slower than my Kingston 1GB kit (2x512) running at ddr800 4-4-4-12  :(

I've gone back to using the 1GB kit and i'm thinking about ordering a 2GB kit of TeamGroup or SuperTalent :(

Well I took the day off to finish testing this RAM my results are poor it cannot do 4-4-4-12 the very best is 4-4-5-12 @ 796 MHZ not one MHz more.

I have tried every single combination and in all I have spent over 30 hours on it.

I do not care who says this ram is good great or even better, there are some good ones no doubt but I've had 1 DOA and another that can't do spec, I've contacted Geil and await their response.

This is my final word on this RAM it's up to who ever whether they buy it or not and if you do I genuinely wish you luck and hope you don't get anything like my 2 sets, never before have I had 2 sets one after the other that are both bad, I have been very patient with it trying to coax it along but it just kicks me in the teeth. I will never buy Geil again I went to buy Corsair and was talked into buying Geil thanks OcUK.

kimandsally is definitely your board if you cant not run @ stock speeds
the guy in the other thread says once he updated bios ddr 800 became active
on the asus.

Not the board as it happens on a Gigabyte DS4 and a Asus PW, had my fill of it honestly, I have been very carefull to make sure every combination has been tested I'm getting some Corsair here next week then the Geil can be used in the wifes for a plodder it just aint good enough to bench and play with. Geil's QC must be crap they are supposed to be tested I've already had one dead set OcUK changed them after finding they were duff.
