You are simply amazing. There is no other word to describe it.

Here is me looking at the weather thinking there is a real possibility there is no way I can clean my car in time for the RR day whilst you casually post yea, as long as my new engine arrives by Thursday its all good

Serious respect

whilst not wanting to show quite as much man love as Fox, this summed up what i was gonna say. lol.

Legend!

I know how much you've forked out on all of this so its good to see your still a happy chappy when things go wrong. I'm tempted to go all the way to the RR day just to see the car. Love it.

Looks like the block may have been sat drained of fluids - the might be stuck to the pistons, causing this contamination. Really confusing though as that's a lot of oil.....getting in somewhere!

Good on you for keeping at it, hope it comes together :)

I came in earlier totally ****** off with the car ready to call it a day, I read the above had a quick break and went back to the garage :D

Everyone that's posted, you have no idea how much your support and encouragement helps at times like this. Group hug anyone ;)

Did quite a bit tonight

Rear beam is off, going to see if I can rush it through the powder coaters tomorrow. Bushes were removed, what a PITA, thanks again to the superstar helper that is Bob!

Brake lines to the rear done

Things that went wrong tonight!

1. Rear braided brake hoses dont fit, need to order another set
2. Rear beam bushes supplied are wrong, need to source some more
3. VW suspenion lock nuts do not fit the Koni rear shocks
4. Rear beam bolt seized solid and had to be cut out

1 + 2 easily sorted by ordering some stuff from Rally Design, 3 needs a phonecall to Demon Tweeks to see if they can supply any. 4 is a VW only part and hopefully will be available.

I'm going to get this done before Friday....

I have to be honest Llyr and explain that for me, THIS is what motors is about. Threads like this are superb, and your car will probably have the biggest number of gatherers around it !

(however, as meeting organiser, I wouldn't mind pulling rank and getting dibs on a passenger ride if you get a chance? cheeky as **** to ask, but hey, have to get in there ! :D )

Support has been awesome form the start of this thread. It's good to have like minded people about :)

As long as they dont look too closely at some stuff that I've had to leave due to lack of time!

1st passenger ride goes to you! (If its ready!)

Awesome, awesome stuff L1J. I have been following this thread but haven't got round to posting in it before, however this sums up my feelings :

Absolute respect to you, and it makes my RX7 rebuild look like a walk in the park.

Hats off to you sir

Keep going Llyr! All these problems will be nothing when this beast is up and running! You're doing a cracking job - an inspiration to the rest of us!

This is like having a baby (apparently!). The labour pains are soon forgotten when its finally delivered.

So it will be when you sit in it and give it its first proper ragging! It'll all be worth it!

muchos respect!

Brilliant job m8

Getting prices for an engine at the moment

VW - £1800 + VAT less 12%
The Engine shop - £1295 inc VAT, will never get one by the weekend
Daventry Motors - £850 + VAT, 41k second hand engine

Trying to decide between recon and second hand, not much price difference at the moment. It's going to be down to who has one in stock!

Im in Daventry bud, if that helps at all.

Email in trust :)

What is the Engine code you are looking for?

The one I had fitted is an APP

AUQ, ARY, AGU, AUM, ARX or anything originally fitted with a K03 or K03S turbo that's transversely mounted would do!

You want a BAM ;)

BAM would be good :D , I would need a different downpipe and ECU map though, so that's a no for now!

Cheapest so far is £850 + VAT delivered for a 41k second hand engine, If I let them know before 1pm I'll have it tomorrow morning.

I've taken the rear beam to the powder coaters, should get it back late tomorrow.

Koni fittings are being a pain, it looks like I will have to buy complete struts to get the fittings I need. Mmmmmm coilovers?!
