What a day! :D

Firstly a big thanks to Tony, Elfyn, Bob, Gareth, Keys, Tony and Lisa for the help today, without them I would have never got it done.

We took our time today, this was treated as a final installation and everything had to be right, if anything went wrong after today then I would have had to call it a day.

Everything is now in place, still waiting for an air filter though.

She started first time, still a little smoke coming from the exhaust but thats to be expected with all the oil residue in there! No smoke is produced when revved so I'm 99% sure that everything is fine. Needs a good run tomorrow to warm everything up.

Most of the interior was fitted by Bob tonight and I think everyone had a go in cleaning the wheels :D

Mmmm looks like they missed some bits!

Lots of little jobs to do tomorrow, MOT booked for Friday morning.

Very happy and pleased tonight :D

Fantastic mate, it's been a superb thread to read and look forward to.
Lets hope it sails through the MOT and shall be looking forward to having a nose around this on Saturday.

Neil.

Awesome work.

At one of the rolling roads I finished fitting my new engine the night before, getting up early and getting the car tracked and then running the engine in on the way down to Powerstation, mapping it in the morning up and down the M5 and then running it with about 150miles on the clock :D

The fun and games of cars + deadlines :D

That was quality, you and your mate/brother kept disappearing for more mapping sessions :D

great stuff...... a shame about the first engine..... what was the fault in the end? bad seals?

could that engine be "used" at all... like rebore for more CC etc? or is it waste iron now?

Staggering mate, well done. :)

Fingers crossed for the MOT and any bits you're doing today.

Tempted to skip my sisters wedding to come see her! :p (Think I'll be in trouble if I did that to be honest!)

Got some clips for the arches and side moulding from VW and some new number plates made up.

Engine has been running for a couple of hours, much less smoke now. Needs a good run to clear all the residue out. Found a leaking O-ring on the temp sensor housing, got one from VW, I will fit it aftwerwards.

No word from the seller of the engine yet.

I *think* I have everything here to finish it for an MOT now, I have until 8:20am tomorrow morning to get it done! :D

Kudos for getting the 2nd engine in so quickly. Help or not, its all quiite an achievement

as a matter of interest, what engine is the replacement ? another 1.8 20V Turbo obviously, but wheres this one from ?
