My MR2 Turbo MPG Record!

I've never seen anything other than 30mpg from my Chevette. Pootling round town, giving it some on road rallys or cruising on motorways, it's always 30mpg.

I get anywhere between 29 and 33 mpg depending on how i drive.

If i manage to stick to 70 all the way to work and back i'll get 33.

Phear my 1.4 :D

:(
I think I lose, 70ltr Petrol gets me about 240 miles.
Although 65ltrs of LPG does get me about 200 miles.

The car i took out for a test drive saturday, averaged 16.5mpg on the trip computer. Sadly I only had it for about 2hrs, so thats the only estimate I had. That was 340bhp, 2300kg Marmite 4*4. But I liked it.

55mph would kill my car (or me, i would fall asleep). i can do 80mph in 5th at near on 2500rpm, indicated 45-50mpg, thats the only time i get good economy!

Is this the MR2T or the CTR?

Anything less than 65 mph and I swear - my eyes start getting heavy and I just want to close them for a few seconds.

MR2 although the CTR is very similar with regards to MPG. I also got 300 miles from a tank on the CTR at a steady 90mph. I've got a hunch that the throttle position sensor is dodgy on the CTR though, it's displaying all the classic symptoms so back to Honda I go!

Lol well done!! I told you not to boost it around birmingham, but you wouldnt listen:p
I had to show you the power. :p

If I took the camping crap out of the boot it might have been better. :(

My 1.0 Corsa run around (GF car) does around 50mpg regularly :p

Teg is about 30 going to work and short trips, closer to 35 on a run at about 85 (any faster and im in VTEC area)

I might buy a new ecu and get it mapped to stop the running rich problem, will save money in petrol but wont get any flames. :(

not bad, the best i've had was 300 miles to the fuel light, 42 litres used (thats what it took to fill the tank) 13 litres left in the tank

gonna see if i can beat that on sat morning convoying to combe, lol

300 was my best, got that out of my Rev1 on the Manchester Meet. Just made it to a petrol station, only had 2L or so left in it.

I bought my MR2 tubby as a second car and to wheel it out when the sun shines but at the minute I am running it full time as my main runabout is in the garage. It's a diesel so I get good miles and economy. At 101.9 for Optimax and filling up twice a week almost it stings at the minute.

The very best I can hope for from the Mister 2 is 22mpg I reckon. Mine is modified so for that extra performance it will drink more. I have bigger valves and a modified ECU so I am getting better performance than an out of the box MR2, which is about 5.5 0-60 ? I am getting about 5 maybe, although I am not sure and will stand corrected.

They are thirsty at the best of times and I have given up trying to ease of the gas as it seems to drink Shell vintage whatever happens.

Blisteringly good fun though. :D
