My new car

Effortless getting up to speed is one thing, effortless overtaking or hillclimbs is another.

These things are slow and yours looks to be base model ?

And i bet you could have bought a 330d or something for a lot less ?

Ok im sorry.

how about i try again

OMG YOU BOUGHT A BMW

Wow....life changing input there...thanks?

It's not an M Sport no, it's an SE, but in terms of being base, hardly, it has pretty much every option going in it. And it's not slow either, it's not fast, but by no means slow

I could have got a 330d for the money yeah, but at the end of the day, I'm glad I didn't. The more I see the 3 series, the more it looks a bit plain to me. Sure it's probably a more comfortable ride, and is more luxurious, and certainly faster. But the 1 series is a bit more fun to drive apparently and I certainly prefer the looks

So thanks for your post, it's probably the least useful I've ever seen grace the Motors forum, and that's saying a lot

Lol - 0-60 in 7.4s and twoblacklines is saying they're slow....lol

Obviously 174bhp diesel in a mid sized hatch is really slow compared to a 110bhp diesel in a large saloon

i think it's only got 163bhp though as it's pre-facelift.
it's disgustingly slow. i can out-accelerate it on my pushbike

Im just confused that the car in your sig looks nothing like the model you own.

Some people just can't be happy for others. The lads 23 and only been driving for just over a year and is sitting in a reasonably new, tidy BMW diesel.

A long time ago granted, but my second car was an old 1.3 Mk2 rusty escort which required most of my spare time to be spent trying to fix the damn thing. I remember the thrill when I changed it in 1991 for a 1984 Ford Orion 1.6 GL.

I can't recall anyone down the pub or at footy telling me to my face that my new car was crap, or I should have bought a Sierra Cosworth cos they're faster ect, cos it would'nt have gone down well. It seems in this age of the internet forum, some people seem to lose their manners and post things I'm pretty sure they would'nt say face to face.

Nice car mate, enjoy it!

Well because I haven't had a chance to get a good photo of my car yet, given the naff weather and state my car is in after doing back road journies, given the chance I will have a more relevant sig :D

I would say it to his face, anyone who really knows me would tell you the same. Im 23 and I wouldnt buy that either. Think of the cars you could get for that cash.

You could probably give me a whole list of cars, and I'd probably tell you "no thanks" to most of them.

I wanted a 3 series at first, as I had my heart set on a BMW, always have, ever since I was a kid. It was only when I spoke to a guy at work about them and he asked me if I'd looked into the 1 series as an entry point into BMW, due to my driving experience and requirements, that I really took notice.

So it was always going to be one of the two, and once I actually sat in the 1 series and test drove it, I knew I'd be happy with it

I didn't want a super quick car, I didn't want a car that would be massively more expensive to run than my Fiesta and I certainly didn't want anything older than 5 years
